Amigasys 3 Plus
« on: July 12, 2007, 08:31:30 AM »
I just stumbled upon the website of Amigasys 3 Plus.
Haven't thoroughly checked it yet, but I think it's a pretty decent package. Don't know when it will be available but I think I will give it a try when it's there...

Anyone have some experience with older Amigasys packages? For what I saw at a first glance it looks like a somewhat lighter alternative for Amikit...

It's a pretty decent system. Runs fast, much faster than Amiga In A Box from what I can say. I tried it on one of my brothers PC in his InternetCafé and the browser went faster than FireFox on Windows.

I would love to try an Amigasys install on my 060 BPPC. I know that this wont happen without some significant rewriting of the install scripts. I certainly dont have the knowledge to do it.... It would be great of someone at Amigasys would have a go though.

Heya, I tried Amigasys 3 Plus under WinUAE.

Its pretty decent, but I have also tried AmiKit, I liked it a whole lot more.

BTW, I run AmiKit on an AMDX2 with 2GB memory.

My 2 cents.

Hi there,

Does anyone run AmigaSys 3 Plus under WinUAE 1.4.4? It seems to work very well in the OS 3.1 install, but when I upgrade it to 3.9 using the AmigaForever CD Premium Edition, it doesn't seem to complete its upgrade properly.

Installation:

- Windows XP Pro
- WinUAE 1.4.4
- AmigaForever 6.0 CD Premium Edition

Problem: When I try to upgrade to OS 3.9, I get an error during the installation. "Can't open System:Prefs/Env-Archive/ for output - file is write-protected"

I get a Toolmanager dialog box that asks: "Quit ToolManager?"

I select NO and the installation finishes.

I reboot and instead of getting the nice theme I selected during the installation, I get the AmigaForever theme and the clock and calendar are twice their original size. The menu dock doesn't load. iBrowse doesn't work either because MUI insn't installed/upgraded properly. (I forget the error message)

I tried to load a new theme from Workbench tools, but that did not work either. It says it installed, but after reboot, I always get the old AF theme.

All this works great under the OS 3.1 AmigaSys 3 Plus installation. It seems that the OS 3.9 upgrade is failing at some point.

Any suggestions?
