One beautiful movie
« on: May 08, 2004, 05:50:27 PM »
"spring, summer, fall, winter.. and spring"
(original title: "Bom yeoreum gaeul gyeoul geurigo bom")
I saw it yesterday.

It's a Korean movie about Buddhism.
Besides the thoughts behind Buddhism, it shows beautiful nature and slow continuity of it, and within it the human drama.

This movie is impressive. It's slow, and because of that it gives you time to feel it, to feel the nature, to feel the whole beauty.
I was a tad sad to come out of the cinema to realise that I was back in the grey, dull city :-(

That does sound beautiful. Although I don't subscribe to it any more than I would other organised religions, Buddhism does have some ideas that I find appealing, Samsara and Anatta.

Though for some it may seem that Buddhism as a description how to live, and the symbolism of it, is the main aspect of the movie, I noticed other aspects, I was looking at the atmosphere, the surroundings (mostly nature) and the living conditions.

I seem to remember that Feudal Japan was Buddhist. And boy, did it make them peaceful.

Please! Don't let this thread moved to the philosophy/religion or politics CH!
Go see this movie instead and then think about what you see rather than think about what you think.
