"Yes, even she knows a concertina from a dress"

She also probably knows what a non sequitur is and when not to waste time replying to one. Obviously you do not - even when presented with a suitable definition. Thats because your comprehension of written english is second only to your notion of what constitutes something being funny.

The "joke" wasnt funny first time since the "observation" on which it was based was a fallacy. Which is why nobody other than you laughed. It wasnt any funnier the second time either. Nor this time. It wont be any other time either. Its just... well sad really. Your site rank seems to be well deserved :-P

Vincent:

Now that was funny :-) Im not changing it though. Relabelling them as "earphones" doesnt make them any less irritating when they wont stay put!

I initially thought you were putting in earrings...

Youre not the first to think that :-) Truth be told I think the full-drop earrings were catching the wire from the earpiece which was a bit too big to fit comfortably in my ear. The slightest movement seemed to knock it out. I got caught on camera whilst fidgeting with it and frowning and pouting!

(Yes thats a frown...)

@mel_zoom

It's certainly looks well captured, although just about any photo can look sharp at that size. I'm highly suspect of that being a frown though, must be the angle ;-)

Opinions concerning my comprehension of written English vary. However I can at least claim to write it with reasonable skill. If you stick with me, I'll lick your writing into shape :-P

I agree with Adz. That doesn't look like a frown. 'Frown' is too strong a word for what you are doing there. I would describe it more as a hardening of the features...you know, such as when a woman unwittingly acknowledges the passing of wind.

No, but trying to get headphones in your ear must be difficult...

Unless you've got ears like Prince Charlie, but I doubt that as we can actually see your face and hair in the photo.

I've not read this thread until now, but it's the kind of thing you can only find at Aorg.

Everyone seems to be paying particular attention to the scribings of a pretty lady, we haven't seen that in a while...  (no offence intended Mel hehe).

BTW, anyone heard from Blobrana lately?  Has anyone seen la Blob and la Mel in the same thread?  Are they the same person?

On the side subject of what makes a desirable female, I can safely say that a lady perched on a bike (although one not quite as good as mine) is a great start.

Shallow, moi?

"Eat them up! yum! yum!"

Regarding the speccy, it goes back even earlier than that. He claimed he was able to achieve a similar effect messing about on the zx81 :-D

I could do that ! all you did was something like:

10 FAST
20 FAST
30 SLOW
40 GOTO 10

this would make a note (pink noise? can't remember - this was 25 years ago after all!) if you turned the volume up and slightly detuned yer telly.

for everyone else: a lot of corners were cut in making the ZX81 a 4 or 5 IC computer - the CPU was used by the ULA to generate the timings for the generating the character based display, by use if NMIs the R register, and whatnot. consequently, SLOW mode was dog slow, and you only got 25% of the CPU's time to yourself - FAST basically turned off the display generator.

You can tell he was a speccy fan. Half of his tracks have at least one spectrum tape loading sample in them somewhere!
