Hi all,

Just for info. I've created a SuperTuxKart 0.8 backport from the OpenPandora port (http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=detail&app=SuperTuxKart-ptitseb) for some weaker PowerPC/AltiVec computers.

v0.8.0.03
------------

Why aren't you just using the "supertuxkart" package available in Debian [1]? Does the X1000 run stock Debian (Ubuntu PPC)? If yes, then you should be able to just install the Debian package.

Or does your version include some additional optimizations?

Cheers,

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

The Debian package has some bugs. For example wrong colors. I've built STK with AltiVec optimization and with bug fixes for the AmigaOne X1000. There are also a backport by the OpenPandora version for weaker PPC Linux machines available with AltiVec optimization and bug fixes.

Rgds,
Christian

Would you mind reporting these bugs against the package in Debian if they haven't been reported yet? We are striving for a high level of quality assurance and we'd highly appreciate to get feedback from our users and other developers.

If your mail daemon is correctly configured for sending mail, all you need is:

Code: [Select]

reportbug supertuxkart

and follow the instructions on screen.

Sounds interesting. We'd be highly interested in such patches in Debian as well. You can also file those to the bug tracker or you make sure those are included in the upstream sources.

Thanks,

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

Thank you for your answer. I've opened 2 bug reports and sent a solution 4 months ago.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/supertuxkart/+bug/1196227

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=714519

I've asked the Irrlicht developer if they could integrate this solution in the Irrlicht source code.

All the best,
Christian

STK has its own Irrlicht version. Therefore I asked the STK developer if they could integrate the solution in their own Irrlicht version: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=31672119

We are proud to announce the release of SuperTuxKart version 0.8.1 for the AmigaOne X1000.

This release includes the following features:
* New track 'STK Enterprise'
* Updated tracks 'Old Mine', 'Around the Lighthouse' and 'Zen Garden'
* New modes 'Soccer' and 'Egg Hunt'
* New karts 'Xue' and 'Sara'
* Updated 'Beastie' kart
* Added tutorial
* Added new 'SuperTux' difficulty
* New bubblegum shield defensive weapon
* New combined speedometer and nitro meter
* Added ability to filter add-ons
* Updated nitro models
* Added ability to save and resume Grand Prix
* Improved skid marks and particle effects

It has taken us a rather long time for a minor release, but most of the developers have been rather busy with mentoring students for the “Google Summer of Code 2013”. On the other hand, we had many contributions from new developers: Dawid Gan tirelessly fixed bugs, making 0.8.1 the minor release with most bug fixes. Johannesr1 added shield functionality to bubblegum. Xenux added filtering of add-ons, Glenn De Jonghe saving of a Grand Prix (just abort a Grand Prix at the beginning of a race, later then restart the same Grand Prix again). Funto and Mohammad Al-Ghannam added a multi-player soccer mode.

Hi all,

        I've released a bug fix version of the static Linux AltiVec package. The reason was that the bluetooth lib has a dependency to glibc 2.15. Therefore, it doesn't run on Debian 7 and MintPPC 11. I've compilied the static version of the bluetooth lib into the STK binary. And now it runs on Debian 7 and MintPPC 11 with glibc 2.13.
Additional I have released a version for older Linux systems with glibc 2.11.1 or higher without AltiVec optimization. This version runs also on the Cyrus boards in the future.

I can test it on X1000, but I am currently far more interested can you make SAM440/460 optimized versions for AOS and Linux?

Also, any chance of MorphOS version?
