1st look at icaros 1.2.6
« on: May 16, 2011, 06:02:57 PM »
Well I have just created a Icaros 1.2.6 live dvd. Popped it in my trusty Dell Precision M65 laptop and....wow. Pretty impressive I must say. I have only slight former experience with Aros and that is at least 4 years dated now (although I did tinker with the recent 68K versions in UAE) This 1.2.6 is quite impressive. I am just dinking around with the live-dvd for now. I am thinking I need some dedicated hardware for this operating system! It seems very well put together and running good so far. I always felt going to x86 or other common hardware was the way to go. It took me a grand total of 1 hour to download this operating system, burn it to a dvd, and boot it up straight away on a laptop I already owned, all without problems. This is a pretty easy way to get into new generation Amiga-like operating systems! Well done to everyone involved.

Now to start hunting around for Aros compatible hardware. Since I am a laptop hound, has anyone found a good laptop that works? If not, then I will simply search for suitable desktop hardware.

Very, very nice is all I can say so far.
