Title: digitize camera picture with Amiga
Post by: satiropan on December 25, 2015, 04:30:29 PM
I am a little rusty with Amiga software now so I need help.
I want to create a digitizing post.
I will have an A1200hd, 3.1 or 3.9, a professional camera on tripod, exiting cvbs signal, a Vidtech Scanlock genlock, this:
http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/scanlock
I want to be able to digitize a subject by just pressing a key, then send the picture to an older machine, maybe unix, maybe dos, and print it in ascii graphics with a pin printer.
apart from the sending the picture to the second machine and printing, which will be taken care of by another person, I don't know/remember, what software should I use to digitize the camera composite signal.
can some of you help?
regards

Unless this genlock is special, it cannot be used to digitize video. A genlock rather is like a blue box (or nowadays green box). It takes a video source, overlays it with the Amiga video (one color of the Amiga video is transparent, showing the video source) and outputs the combined signal to a video destination (usually a recording device). There is no digital processing involved.

You will need something like VIDI 12RT OR VIDI 24 or NEWTEK DIGIVIEW video digitizer to digitize a picture from composite video input.

thanx

Each video digitizer comes with their own software, so make sure that the unit comes with a disk.

I used to use my Prograb24RT a fair bit many moons ago. I think it had an ARexx port - perhaps you could automate the process coupled with your image to char conversion program etc...

I have found this
http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/videon
don't know which version, most probably supports only OCS, since on the box it's written: for Amiga 500, 1000, 2000 computers, it must be 1988/89
no AGA/ECS support.
anyway, did any of you ever used it?
does it digitize in color just in one scan? or should one scan 3 times with the color filter?
how long it takes to digitize?
how long it takes to send the picture to the Amiga, via parallel port?
any info will be useful
thanx

Never seen it before, I only used Digiview and Vidi 12RT.
Digiview uses 3 passes to scan image, Vidi Rt can do it in real time.
