Melbourne Amiga User Group (MAUG)
« on: November 05, 2008, 12:35:11 AM »
Just thought I would give some general info about one of the two active user groups in Melbourne in case anyone in the area was interested in attending.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAUG

Melbourne Amiga User Group meets on the first Thursday of every month at the Kellaway community centre hall, Kellaway avenue Moonee Ponds. Meetings start at 8:30pm and usually finish at 11pm, people stay later unless the cleaner kicks us out. Attendance varies from 7 to 20 people depending. Things you can expect to see are classic amigas, PPC amigas both classic and A1 running OS4 and anything you want to bring along.

Sorry about the size of the pic, couldnt figure out how to get linkable thumbnails working on this board.

Next meeting this Thursday the 6th of Nov at 8:30pm

I have been once before, but in general I like the one off stephensons road. Damo goes to both though reguarly.

Say hallo to Breeana for us, if she is there again. Her knowledge in computing systems in general is quiet entertaining.

HOpe theres a good turn up again. Last time I went there were about 15 people, which I thought was a lot, considering its on a weekday.

Ever considered changing it to a weekend, whereby people can stay as late as they want??

Cheers.

I have no say as to which days it is held, I'm just a lowly member and that's the way I like it. Damo has been to every one I have gone to so far. Breeana hasn't attended any meetings since I joined (around feb this year) so I haven't had the opportunity to meet her yet.

I have only been to one of the Sunday meetings and it wasn't as active on that occasion as the Thursday meetings. I agree late night Thursdays can be a pain but for some reason I prefer the Thursday meeting to the Sunday one. But I am planning to drop into a Sunday meeting again soon.

My name is George so perhaps we met at the Sunday meeting? I brought a 1200 + 030 + subway USB along a couple of months back.

To keep things fair:

AUG

Amiga Users Group (Melbourne, Victoria) meets on the third Sunday of every month at the Wadham House Craft and Hobby Centre, 52 Wadham Parade, Mount Waverley from 2pm to about 6pm. I have only been to one of their meetings but am now a paid up member so will probably be attending in future if I have the time on Sundays. There were fewer people there than the MAUG meetings but there were A1s with OS4, classic amigas and PCs running emulation. There were around 6 or 7 there last time I attended.

Next meeting Sunday the 16th Nov

This Thursday's MAUG meeting is shaping up to be a big one, The following is from an email recieved today from the club secretary:

Quote
That's right! We have an awesome break-up party planned at this years last MAUG!!  Why will it be so awesome? Cause the Syntax Party Crew will be there to show off demos!!!  The who? Haven't seen them? Well here's a short promo:  =============================== SYNTAX DEMO PARTY 2008! Australia's largest coding, gfx and music tracking party for Oldskool & nuskool platforms www.syntaxparty.org ===============================  Come to MAUG and see the party crew in action for an exclusive special treat for MAUG members not to be seen anywhere else! Just back from overseas and we managed to secure a booking for our break-up. Are we good to you or what! You've not seen such an exclusive since the days of the CUAmiga and AmigaFormat coverdisk demos I bet! And that retro feeling will keep on flowing at MAUG.  Just as a teaser you're going to see a MiniMig in action doing demos! An A500 and the greatest demo machine of all, the beloved A1200.  Okay that's the big news. As is customary we will also have the usual assortment of party food around the tables for the picking.  But wait! There's more! Still after an AmigaOS4 machine? Well we are going too see a live Sam440ep in action! Running Linux, AROS and now just recently AmigaOS4 this is the new OS4 machine. See here for more: http://acube-systems.biz/eng/sam.php  If that's not all, the club AmigaOS4.1 order should be ready. So we might also see an AmigaOS4.1 install fest! Nice icing on the cake it would be.  Either way, I told you it would be awesome. So come along to MAUG and have a great time! We've planned one. :-D

This Thursday the 4th of December, Kellaway community centre hall, Kellaway avenue Moonee Ponds. Meeting should start at 8:00pm

How far are you from Costco?  I don't know Melbourne very well and it's a bit of a trek down there...

What we\'re witnessing is the sad, lonely crowing of that last, doomed cock.
