ELBOX COMPUTER is pleased to announce the LBA-48 addressing support in new 4xEIDE'99 buffered interfaces for Amiga 1200 and Amiga 600 computers.

LBA-48 support is necessary for handling disks over 128GB, which are currently the most popular hard drives on the market. Up to now, FastATA controllers were the only controllers for classic Amiga supporting EIDE hard drives over 128GB.

New 4xEIDE'99 buffered interfaces with new software supporting disks over 128GB are just available in Elbox Online Store and from distributors of Elbox products.

Package contents:
- 4xEIDE'99 buffered interface
- Floppy disk with 4xEIDE.driver ver. 4.0 and AllegroCDFS ver.3.6

New software with LBA-48 support is planned to be made available free of charge for registered users of older 4xEIDE'99 buffered interfaces - it will be announced when is available.

BTW HDD manufacturers are dropping PATA drives soon (Seagate is said to do so by the end of the year). While stocks will last for some time, and surely some manufacturers will run small batches of the PATA drives, it will soon become increasingly hard to find them. Eventually the prices will start to climb, too.

So in case you're going to buy a PATA HDD (for example amiga use), keep an eye of the availability and prices, and don't wait too long.

Converter will work I guess. It adds to the price however (quick googling revealed prices around 20+ usd), and you need one converter per drive.

Nice stuff, now we can all get those 1tb harddrives, woohoo.
I hope they plan to enhance the Z3 Powerflyer and do upgrade chips so us people with them already can upgrade.
I need storage space dam it. (currently have 8gig with about 10% full, if that isnt a reason to get a larger harddrive I dunno what is)

For £30 thats great value though, the Allegro CDFS is a great piece of software, love the shape of the eide99 and now supporting massive drives, yay.

@amigakit

On your site it says:  NEW! Support for large hard disks over "127MB" (LBA-48 enabled)

you may need to change that to GB instead of MB :-)

Also I have a question about the EIDE99......I notice because of its shape, I will not be able to add an internal DVDRW drive.......is there a way to add a cable of some kind so that the angle can be changed?
CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

While at eBay, you could aswell get PATA drives from there :-)

For some reason I've never trusted second-hand stuff for storage purposes...

Perhaps I should have been more clear.

You can buy BRAND NEW PATA to SATA converters for under $10 shipped on eBay.
