Strategy games to check out?
« on: June 26, 2010, 11:06:06 PM »
So well familiar with the usual suspects on the amiga (the battle isle series, historyline, UFO, Kingdoms of england, settlers, civilization, warlords)

Anything else to look out for?

More interested in stuff with a military outlook than sim city type of games but I'll try anything ?

I've been looking at Reunion, Lords of the Realm and Voyage of Discoveries a bit, but so far haven't delved into them, as they seem to be games that'll take a bit of work to figure out.

Total Chaos AGA.  Loads of strategy.  Killing strategies.  Defense strategies. Surviving strategies.  Mass destruction strategies.  Lots and lots of strategy.
If you understand military strategy then you will do well in this game.

Lords of the Realm is a brilliant game. If you like the strategy element of war then you'll love this game. Manage the economy of your counties as well as your military strategies.

Never tried Total Chaos myself. I look at the screenshots and can't figure out what is going on lol

I found a manual for Lords of the Realm so I think I'll dig into that. Hopefully the PC manual will be fine for figuring out the amiga version :)

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I'll check them out.
I've been looking into a few squad level games too, Breach (seems fun but way ugly), Sabre Team and the old Laser squad.
Anything else on that scale where you command a few guys in a turn based situation ?

K240 is another. I've tried playing it once, but need to revisit it to figure it out.

Nobunaga's Ambition is a great strategy game in Feudal Japan. I wasted hours on the Amiga and the NES version. Up to 8 people can play that one, since it's turn based. ;)

Old classic...
Empire: Wargame Of The Century

I've always loved to play that especially with friends :) There's play by mail option, which works fine over DCC in IRC for example, to get almost realtime internet play ;)
