Hum,
Photographic evidence at the beagle enquiry has shown four bright spots, dubbed the "string of pearls", on the surface of the planet.
(Beagle 2 was targeted to land in a large lowland basin called Isidis Planitia at 0254 GMT on 25 December.)
Unfortunately, it seems as if the Beagle 2 lander could have crashed into Mars because the atmosphere on the planet was less dense than expected and due to the dust storm activity on the planet (which acted to warm the atmosphere, at the time )

This `less dense atmosphere` was also noticed by the nasa probes as well.

Following the loss of the UK's £150million Beagle2 lander, the National Space Centre in Leicester is asking the public whether/how the country should continue taking part in future Mars missions.
