GVP A530 Turbo and HOT PALs
« on: April 28, 2021, 05:09:52 PM »
So I have a GVP A530 with a full 8Megs and the hard drive replaced with a SCSI2SD adapter.  Life is good.  However, it gets hot.  This afternoon I have been running it without its case to get an idea where the heat is coming from.  CPU and FPU are cool as a cucumber.  Ram is also fine.  It turns out one of the PALs is really hot.  Like so hot I can't keep my finger on it for more than a second.

Is there a source for these PALs?  Can they be copied?  Any other thoughts?  I plan on adding heat sinks to at least the hottest PAL.

I'm mostly concerned about preserving this thing.  I'm going to go ahead and install heat sinks.

As a side note all my PALs are socketed so no desoldering.
