try and keep away from FFS filesystems to avoid validation issues..  best to stick with PFS or SFS.

note - takes forever to run validation scan with disksalv on a 4GB cf with heaps of directories.  :(

So which one is best if you are starting a fresh installation?

@Jeff doesn't really matter, PFS3 AIO has better salvage tools SFS is a litte bit faster.
I've used both and never ever had a problem with either one.
Amiga is addictive coz it is fun to use

I am pretty sure that most of my Amigas have 20+ year old FFS partitions - EEK

It doesn't matter what file system you use if you don't make backups

Isn't FFS pretty stable with the latest patches?

Good question; I do not know but I believe you are correct as you need a source file to patch.

For 3.1 I would use this:

Amiga 500: 2MB Chip|16MB Fast|30MHz 68030+68882|3.9|Indivision ECS|GVP A500HD+|Mechware card reader + 8GB CF|Cocolino|SCSI DVD-RAM
Amiga 2000: 2MB Chip|136MB Fast|50MHz 68060|3.9|Indivision ECS + GVP Spectrum|Mechware card reader + 8GB CF|AD516|X-Surf 100|RapidRoad|Cocolino|SCSI CD-RW
