Hi I heard you can power x2 amiga 600's from one PSU. Anybody know how this can be done and what adapters i would need etc

Cheers

I'm guessing you would need some sort of splitter but you would need something with a bit more horsepower as the amiga psu would have insufficient power to run both amiga's.
A1200T: M1230XA 50Mhz 68030 w/64mb,DVDRom, 80gb hdd, Realtek LAN Card, Mediator LT4 + Radeon 9250 128mb(used for fast ram), Spider USB Card, Voodoo 3 3000 OS 3.9 +bb 1-3

I'm not aware of a splitter made for this purpose.  You will probably have to make your own.

The portable Amigas need to be supplied with +5 VDC (volts direct current), +12 VDC, -12 VDC and a common ground (0 VDC) for those 3 power rails.  Those voltage rails need to be accurately regulated to not fluctuate under load (+5 VDC cannot droop down to +4 volts). There can be very little ripple or noise on those rails.  In addition, those power rails need to able to supply their voltage at some flow rate, current, rated in Amps or milli-amps (mA).

The current an Amiga draws can vary as drives spin up, accessories and expansions are added, etc.  If you don't have a meter to measure this demand directly, the rating on the stock power supply is a good rule of thumb.  It is usually over sized some percentage to allow for the usual expansions of 1 system (but Not enough for 2 systems!).

If you have the know-how to substitute a power supply of more than double the current ratings (for each individual rail) of the original, then yes, you could run 2 A600s from 1 power supply.  Generally, portable Amigas are frugal with power compared to full desktop machines, so larger supplies are plentiful.

I usually run my A500 and whatever side-car expansion from 1 supply, rather than letting the side-car draw power thru the A500.

Caution: if you get this wrong, you can damage everything connected.

I run my entire A500 setup (see sig) off a standard C= power brick (with the exception of the CD drive).  I guess if you had "one of the good ones" and the proper splitter, you could do this, as long as the A600's don't have any expansions.  Still, seems like a really, really bad idea, IMHO.

I would not try this with a Commodore PSU. You are asking for trouble. You will need a much more powerful PSU.
A2000 GVP 40MHz \'030, 21Mb RAM SD/FF, 2 floppies, internal CD-ROM drive, micromys v3 w/laser mouse
A1000 Microbotics Starboard II w/2Mb 1080, & external floppy (AIRdrive)
C-128 w/1571, 1750, & Final Cartridge III+

Stock A600's draw very little current(assuming compact flash for hard drive), and a A500 psu could run 2 of them if they are not expanded and the power supply is in good shape. the A500 psu has 4.5 amps usually. The 600/1200 psu is weak and not up to the job.You could solder a additional psu cable onto the psu board. I don't know of any ready made adapters.
