All scsi 1 and scsi 2 devices should allow 8 max devices on the chain. The controller itself counts as one device, so you can have connected to the Oktagon another 7 devices on the scsi chain, harddrives or cd-roms etc
Completely useless? I can always be used as a bad example  :lol:

also  how much speed can handle the octagon , i am looking for a scsi cd rom , but i was wonder if 4 is ok or i should go for a 20x speed

1 think you can use any speed cdrom, oktagon can handle 5mb/s (i have 32x sony)
too lazy to use shift key properly...

That I want to see. I never had any drive on an Oktagon reach more then 2,x MB/s. If you mean the theoretical maximum throughput of a ZII card in general you are correct.

I couldn't burn faster than 1x  on Oktagon using '060 and IDE HDD (A4000) because of buffer underrun :-x
Better sorry than worry.

No, the max is 3.54 MB/s, in practice 2+ MB as some cycles go to housekeeping.

ye, i mean theoretical maximum of Zorro slot of course. t hing 2X or 4X cd-rom drives ale too old and crappy against something like this :-oo)
