Title: Printer Dumping..Can I do this?
Post by: on January 13, 2003, 12:35:04 PM
I have a question that I hope you all can help my with. I am a Ham Radio operator and I just purchased a device that hooks up to a shortwave radio and decodes morse code,RTTY teletype, etc. and displays it on a built in LCD screen... or this decoded information can be sent to an Epson compat. dot matrix printer. Well, I don't want that...I want electronic archives , and would like to find yet another way to use my Amiga with my radio hobby.

Can I take the information from this device and using a printer cable, dump the information to my machine through the par. port? I don't have the device yet so I haven't been able to experiment for myself. Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance

Basically any data that can be sent to the monitor or LCD, can be redirected to any other port on the Amiga. if you wanted to send the information to the parallel or the serial then there are programs like EGSPrint that use the printer.device/spooly.device or similar to redirect Data.

Should be so hard:

You could try something like:
Copy par: to myfile

Or maybe even Term on the parallel-device.
