Title: Amiga 0S4.1 Final Edition on CD32
Post by: fondpondforever on January 12, 2015, 12:55:40 AM
Can you run Amiga OS4.1 Final Edition on a CD32 with an external floppy drive installed and a keyboard and mouse connected. Thank you.

Not unless you've also figured out a way to graft a PPC processor onto your CD32. ;)

There's no way to install a an A1200 accelerator since the edge connectors are physically different and incompatible.

How about if you did abit of physical modding.

Try it and let us know how it works out for you! Don't forget to add a graphics card while you're at it! :roflmao:

It's really a shame that the CD32 expansion port is incompatible with A1200. Maybe it is possible to make an adapter ("ACA32"), that would do it ;)

No point, it would cease being my favorite Amiga.
Adding HDD and a little fast, fine, but PPC, way over the top.

Ok, thanks for your help. I'll just stick to playing games on the CD32 then :)

I am not at all interested in PPC for CD32, but an angled CD32-A1200 bus adapter that would allow some A1200 memory boards and CPU boards to fit inside CD32 would be JUST AWESOME!!! ;)

As opposed to a CDROM attached to an A1200?

Not much use without some kind of HD controller.

The OP has a history of asking these very ridiculous questions. This is despite being around long enough to know they are ridiculous.
Not sure if they are just a bit of fun or trolling attempts.

okay, thanks for clarifying. but I still find this question interesting. I've seen much more wild ideas, like fitting an a1200 in an a600 case etc. A ppc'ed cd32 would be fun :)

Fitting an A1200 motherboard in an A600 case is not wild at all and has been done many times, I am amazed you can even compare that to fitting a PPC to a CD32!

You could make an add ram and ide board that sits on top of the 020. Put a poll up to get some interest.

Amiga OS4.1 Final Edition Classic on Amiga 1200...Yes. Amiga OS4.1 Final Edition Classic on Amiga CD32...No. I understand what you are saying, i thought i would get creative by just asking you a question. To be fair, maybe i have posted this topic of similar nature to many times. Like i said to your earlier response, i think I'll just stick with playing Amiga Games on the CD32. :)

Think twice. What software should or would make use of it ?? Games? None of the PPC games are running without gfx-card. All are crashing on aga.

What 68k soft would benefit? None either, they are all build against original machine.

As mentioned somewhere before, small brainers don't learn from asking once or a dozen times. And people with ADS don't accept "no".

Because of the nature of this question, it can be adjusted to any other non-working combination of hardware, endless repetition of why or would will follow. This is the nature of trolling caused by boredom.

most ppc games run without graphics card. as do most ppc applications. I understand some people have a history with the OP, but I dont and from my perspective this seemed like a normal question.

It's a perfectly valid question and good stuff for forum discussion. Nobody has a "history" with OP, and he's not some troll or troublemaker just because ddniUK, danbeaver, and Calimeiro think that they are smarter than him.

This is a horribly bigoted attitude, and attacking people like this because you think their questions aren't smart enough will only serve to bully people out of the Amiga community.

I think it's a pretty interesting question.

People's condescending attitudes towards the OP are disgusting.  This kind of attitude probably prevents people from posting questions in case they are bullied or abused by people with a superiority complex.

I always like to think If you have nothing good to say or constructive dont say it at all.
A dumb question is only dumb if you dont ask it.

If you had a dead CD32 maybe you could fit an mini ITX MB with was Intel  CPU ('inside' haha) and then you'd be able to run Amiga OS4.1 Final Edition on the new WinUAE with PPC emulation.
