And my guess is they'll use the new technology for Yet Another Clockspeed Rise (TM), rather than lowering the outrageous running temperature of their CPUs.

Overclock that G3 to 2.2 GHz and get back to me on what the core tempature is. ;)

The article listed IBM as an R&D partner in the research so maybe you won't have to overclock your PPC.  A faster IBM PowerPC would be a welcome alternative.
