Always nice to see additional development, even if it means more fragmentation.  I'll probably pick and chose from 3.1.4 components (once released) to add to my existing 3.9 systems.  Of course I don't expect anyone to support these hacked together kludges beyond myself.  ;)

Probably stretching this request, but any side-by-side screenshots of the 3.1.4 prefs programs with the 3.9 ones?

No. Many components included in 3.1.4 are more advanced than those shipped with 3.9. All the datatypes are post-3.9, the workbench and icon library are post-3.9, all libraries are post-3.9, the printer device is a hybrid, and the preferences are reworked 3.1 preferences as we do not have reaction. Some of the tools are also somewhere in between 3.1 and 3.9 such as the calculator, the clock, the icon editor, and HDToolbox.

How do these first two items compare to Oliver Roberts WarpDT datatypes and Peter K.'s icon.library?

my gut feeling tells me NOT to install BB3&4. However, OldsmobileMike swears by them (I think he's the patch king!). So, I guess I'll just try it with & without BB3&4.

Ha!  I'm gonna lose that title since it's been weeks since I've even had a chance to turn any of my Amiga's on, and I haven't been following this development nearly as closely as I should be.  :(

That being said I never had any issues with 3.9 + all the BB's, and I used to spend way more time than I'd want to admit hunting down the latest and most esoteric versions of patches and libraries that I could find, all in the name of "performance and tuning".  Call it the old hot-rodder in me, I suppose.  ;)

Maybe when the ROM's come out I'll have time to test 3.1.4.  That's what I'm telling myself, anyway...
