Soft changing and fixing hdd boot priorities
« on: November 30, 2011, 04:13:15 AM »
Using AmigaOS3.9 with Blizzard060+scsi kit and a IDE hdd. (will soon receive FastATA1200 but I want this to work with standard IDE port)

What I want to do is simple: Have different Workbench installations & settings for different things I want to do. (one for playing whdload games using XBench, one for an eye candy workbench, one for a fast and usable workbench, one for a most basic magicwb 3.1 workbench, etc..)

I want to make two bootable partions each 2 gb. (first 4gb)

I want to make another two bootable partions each 2gb
Let's say that the priorities are

DH0: 1st
DH1: 2nd
DH3: 3rd
DH4: 4th

When I first turn on the Amiga, I want it to ask me which partion should have the highest priority. After that make the patched scsi device the active one using blizkick and than allow the A1200 to reboot.

Is it possible to keep the boot priorities stay that way until I turn the computer off?

I mean when I first turn on the A1200, I want it to boot from the first partion, but after that keep booting from the partion I selected on every reboot until I use a shortcut (like holding the left mouse button to call a requester allowing me to change which partion should become the one with highest priority)  or turn off the A1200 or cold reset.
