A new bounty has been set up on AmigaBounty.net to raise funds to purchase one or two Sam440ep-flex systems for loan to Amiga software developers.
Details can be found Here (http://www.amigabounty.net/index.php?function=viewproject&projectid=70)

Shouldn't the donations be for A1X1Ks since they are far more expensive then the SAMs? IMO, having specific software to be ported would be a much better reason to donate for a loaner program. YMMV
-
The idea is to have OS4 capable hardware which can be circulated around Amiga software developers as and when the need arises.

If you guys had a lick of sense you'd loss lead and get the dev boxes out to at least somewhat large SW development houses to try and get recognizable companies behind it.
Or do you just wanna keep it with the 900-1000 OS4.x users who might upgrade to the new board.

So much for "if you build it they will come".
-
700 euros???¿¿!!! too expensive for such old hardware, I think

Whats the difference to you? Its not like you'd donate to it either way.

Did Trevor say that?

Well that's really the fault of the hardware producers, if free A1000x machines are not given away to known reliable developers that ask then more fool them.
Good idea anyway, anything that helps more software get transferred on/produced for OS4 is a good thing.

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far. Every euro you donate counts and there's now only 260 to go for the first complete AmigaBounty.net SAM Loaner system. (http://amigaworld.net/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Only 62 euro to go for the first AmigaBounty Developer hardware Loan system! :-)

AmigaBounty to raise funds for 2 Developer Hardware Loans systems has already made the first target and is now only 225 euros short for the second system. Many thanks to all who have donated so far.

Call me cooky, but shouldn't hyperion just provide these machines to the developers?
-
Look,we are a TINY computing group and it is almost beyond belief anyone even bothers to develop new hardware for us.
Expecting free hardware is just a bit further into fantasy land.
Since the rigged lotto system failed yet again (that makes three times in three years I bought a ticket, still not a winner)to award the $200,000,000 prize to me,my sugar-daddy venture capitalist funding of Amiga remains confined to small bounty donations.
So unless someone else with lots of money bankrolls the new Amigas it is going to continue as pull yourself up by your own bootstraps.

Ta dah!!!!!!!!!
Well you did, you broke the 1400 euro target and AmigaBounty now has now enough funds to purchase 2 Sam440ep-flex (733) "Vento" type systems complete with OS4.1 for the AmigaBounty Developer Hardware Loan program. The total funds raised amount to an excellent 1442.8 euros. Any excess funds in the bounty after purchasing the 2 SAM's will be used for shipping costs.
Many thanks again to all who donated to this true community project!!

Maybe Hyperion should match those funds so 4 machines will be available to developers?
:)

If all these loaner Sams are located in Europe then how does this benefit American coders?
