Agreed.  Bright colours, sharp lines and wallpaper don't mix.  Wallpapers should be nice and mellow-looking, and should make the icons stand out.

As for the pic... The problem is that while it's fairly well-executed, it's too "busy" for the eyes, I couldn't live with anything that big and in-your-face on my desktop.
