"Now pegasos are running the old morphos release? "

If one buys pegasos now, it looks like they are shipped with BETATESTER2 version of MorphOS.
http://www.morphos-news.de/comments.php?lg=en&nid=200

I think the question is "When will MorphOS ship." and I mean the 1.0 version.

Does anyone know what MorphOS version the MOS featurelist ei meant for? BT2 or 1.0 or what?

(featurelist is dated 12 Dec and the shipped BT2 is dated 13 Dec)

Yes, a new batch of Pegasos boards are shipped.
At least I got a confirmation from my dealer about this last friday.

There seems to be a small conflict of information there. I remember reading that pegasos was sold out before christmas, and:

Most importantly, we cannot ship the Pegasos if we cannot make it! We met with Mai at CES and Mai confirmed they will ship the old Articias to us. Once we get them we need to mount them on the April PCB and then the mainboard. We know there is plenty of frustration out there for those of you that want the Pegasos. They will be available again soon.

There might be also some interesting information in the comments section:

Yes I know these messages.
That is why I called my dealer, now two weeks ago, and he said that a new batch was about to being produced in the following week (that is last week :-)) and that he was supposed to get a part of the batch this week.
But he mailed me on friday (last week) that he already got the boards!
And unfortunately for me he's now waiting for my tower and memory! (they're shipped at the beginning of this week but he hasn't got them yet)

Hmmm.... last friday was 24th of January... But OK. Then I would just say that bbrv knows even less about the status of pegasos than Ben H about the status of AOS4....  ;-)     <- THERE is a smiley!

Or perhaps they come from different supply streams? ...

Yes. It sounds reasonable that some of those were boards that came in when people swapped from non fixed to fixed (April) versions.

... Either way, looks like you are getting your board and "beta state"(?) OS soon which is more than the rest of us are getting with AOS4 and A1.

Just to clarify:  I am not getting anything untill it is clear what I will get if I buy something.

(I would prefer AmigaOS, but the life is short .... hurry up Hyperion ...)

MorphOS already runs on BlizzPPC (since public
beta 0.2/0.3 IIRC) so I see no reason why it shouldn't
be released for it :)

- "we will sell MorphOS alone, but this will be a strategy primarily directed at Apple computer owners"
- Genesi does not sell HW for the classic Amigas
- it migh decrease pegasos sales
- it might divide R&D support efforts even further
- it lowers the lowest common nominator (or whatever), and it would make game developers work harder (see XBOX game deveopment vs harder PC game develoment)

@Nicholas

I would like to get simple answers to the following:

- Does the MorphOS (that is currently being shipped to pegasos buyers) contain all those features/items that are mentioned in the featurelist (exluding those that are said to be in development in the featurelist)?
(I think it should, if you guys sell it with pegassos and refer to the featurelist. Or you should update your website accordingly (IMHO).)

- People seem to have got BT2 package untill now, when will the 1.0 (or the next version) ship?
(a little while ago it was said at pegasosppc.com that BETATESTER version is not good enough for end users)

@any official Genesi guy with the information

I would also like to see clarifications to these:

"  In the future, we will sell MorphOS alone, but this will be a strategy
primarily directed at Apple computer owners and be "hidden" under an
application (probably a game), running from a CD (or a plug and play
device) and NOT the host hard drive (no partitioning required)."

- So you are NOT planning stand alone MophOS version for Apple computers, are you?

"we will sell MorphOS alone, but this will be a strategy
primarily directed at Apple computer ... We will work
something out for other PPC based platforms too."

- How about CSPPC and BPPC owners. Will they be able to get MorphOS1.0 as a stand alone installation (not needing to buy things like smart card reader with it)?
- If so, will it happen during this year?
- And will CSPPC/BPPC+Mediator users be supported?

" As mentioned here and on ANN we already had MorphOS running on the basic version of the A1."

- Does the basic A1 mean the TeronCX or a AmigaOneSE with the special ROM?
- Do you plan to release stand alone MorphOS1.0 for A1 boards?
- If so, will it happen during this year?

- Do you plan to release stand alone MorphOS1.0 for TeronCX/PX boards?
- If so, will it happen during this year?

Something else:

- Is Genesi planning to open up CPU slot specs to third party CPU card manufacturers?
- Genesi seems to be planning to do a lot of things at the same time (PDA, CPU cards, Pegasos2, STB, server and traditional Thendic products). Most need a totally new HW and a lot of new SW. How are you going to manage to handle the huge R&D work amount?
(I wish you would not promise things that are unrealistic, see what AI did and pissed off the community.)
- Are you going to get your numerous web pages updated anytime soon? For example the pegasos information at your eclipsis pages are highly missleading, currently.
- When will MorphOS be able to run memory protected applications in the Q-Box?
- Are printed manuals planned for MorphOS / pegasos?
- What kind of CPU cards are planned to be shipped during this year?
- Will there be L3 cache on pegasos CPU cards during this year?
- Will there be SMP support in the MorphOS during this year?

**************
About the featurelist:
- should there be floppy support in the in development/planned section?
- There's OS Components in the TOC of the document, but there is no such chapter in the body of the doc.
- It would be nice if available features (like the currently usable kernel features) were more clearly said in the document.
- It would also be nice if things like "distributed computing" and "Clan/Chief model" would be explained in a little bit more words.

Thank you Nicholas for your straight answers!

((I think pegasos is currently the best HW option and after those answers I'm more sure that you manage to refine the OS as well.))
