Amiga Hardware Issues and discussion / CD32 won't start
« Last post by darksun9210 on March 24, 2023, 10:16:57 PM »Hey all,
so, i reserrected my CD32 to front and centre livingroom position with a new TF360 (Thanks SupaDupa), and for about a day or 3 life was great.
i've heatsinked the CPLD's and the 060, got a 60mm fan on the top to cool it all pulling cool air in through the top vents. Quake1, Quake2, demos, you name it. it ate it. even clocked up to 66.7Mhz, and AGA showing RTG a good lick of speed. great times.
now. i don't know if i've cooked the old original PSU. but i've tested with a molex-4pinDIN power adapter on a PC power supply, and it's the same. i'm thinking a cap has gone wonky in the CD32 itself.
on poweron, the power LED stays dim for ages. eventually, it might go bright, and some time after, it might display the CD32 rom scrolling colours screen. but it'll then kill the screen after a few minutes. power light stays bright if it has "woken up". power off and back on again repeats the cycle.
any ideas? or shall i send her off for a re-cap anyway - whats the worst that could happen?
thanks for looking
