I dont know if advertizing is allowed here,
but im not in any way linked to the dev team.
So moderators, please dont hang me for this.
The thing is that this game DESERVES attention
and to be bought.
Because its not often games
with THIS amount of playability are made.
I got it a week ago
and its AMAZING!
This very recent irc discussion I had

I have managed to outmanuever the enemy in xf2 in the campaign, but I got to admit that ive not seen any stupid behaviour yet, wich is so common in other games like these

yes there is 3 games that deserves to sell really well atm , payback , tales of tamar and crossfire 2 ...
thoose are special and not just the normal FPS or RTS stuff...
i would warmfully recomend everyone to buy CF2 and Tales of tamar!..., payback you all probably have checked out.
your amiga cries for theese games! and so does the developers!
buy it and enjoy it.

amen to that, im looking forward to receiving my CrossfireII, I understand its on its way to me now :-). Honestly I dont understand why people have become so reluctant to buy anything... its not as if there suddenly going to stop working when OS4 comes out... and games like XFire2 rocks and doesnt need all that much horsepower, works fine on an 040/25 aga with the right settings...
So all of you out there check the demo on aminet, if you like it buy it and support an amiga company.

but sure its the same set of gfx etc so it will look doubled.

Got it since Dec 2002 (Aachen), but shame on me, I haven't found the time
to play it much eversince ....
Which isn't something CF2-specific, bought a freaking PS2, and now it has been
collecting dust for weeks (more important things to do, you know ;-) ).

hehe I hear ya kronos, im not a huge games player myself, I bought Freespace at BAS (I cant stand the term BAPS, makes me want to ask for chips with it...) and Ive barely played it.. But still if I like a game I buy it... even if I know im not going to get much time to play it.. I know I will play it one day...

Ryu: problem on purchasing stuff is that many software makers don't understand sales value of MorphOS/Pegasos compatibility. It is becoming more and more important. Before this thread I din't even know CF2 might even work on this machine. And I'm not purchasing something that don't.
Lempkee: 640*480 is Hi-res?
Nah.. been on last 5 years .. Games like that should be able to do 800*600 minimum..
Kronos: well. I have not played on PS2 since June... Only used it as a DVD player at time to time.

The box itself states that it's compatible with:

I would be happy with 640x480 resolution actually, but if the graphics are just scalled up 320x240 graphics that look just as blocky, well, what's the point? :P Hmm... I guess I"ll play more with the settings once I get the chance. :)

Before this thread I din't even know CF2 might even work on this machine. And I'm not purchasing something that don't.
MOS is AOS compatible, isn't it? The game itself uses RTG, so you might expect an 060+some GFX card speed as minimum... (a G3 is a lot faster).
Besides there's always Aminet, where you can try the demo, or read the requirements (http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/pub/aminet/game/demo/cf2_demo.readme)
Crossfire II requires at least AGA, an 030 and 16 MB RAM. It works PPC (WarpOS),
Amithlon, UAE and even MorphOS at Pegasos. It supports soundboards via AHI, a
special HiColor version for gfx boards (32MB Ram and 060/PPC recommended).

amigamad: sorry Forematt.co.uk doesnt have this game ; i have asked him to take it in, but there was some probs iirc.
anyway you can buy it from APC-TCP , they accept almost any payment method aslong as u talk to him, he is a very nice guy and very helpfull + shipping to uk is 2-3 days.

joannaK: well highres for us amiga users is 640x480 anyway , i havent seen it running in 800x600 but that would probably look weird since its just a doubler effec...and trippling it would be even worse...
anyway its a really GOOD game and it supports all known amiga configs + morphos and there is no reason to not buy this wonderfull game..
and its cheap even... 39 euro .. something like 27 quid? ...

yep its a great game, i updated the english translation and fixed all the typos, i did send it to the authors but i dont think the game has been updated since. I must get around to uploading it somewere sometime

CASS: MorphOS is AOS 3.x compatible and even capable on running PuP/WUP programs.. But differences are on hardware side. Many gamemakers have been quite liberal on hitting Classic hardware even if program does support AHI/RTG.
Crossfire 2 indeed seems to work quite nicely on this machine. if Demo version has music, that I did not hear.. SoundFx works ok though so it's not biggie... I'm not sure if it'll be my type of game but I'll test this Demo version some more. Especially I need to dig up those old CompetitionPro sticks and commect them to Catweasel.. I hope they'll work on this ..

i said in it that the demo doesnt justify the GAME! , the demo is crap compared to the game , in both terms of gameplay and playbility!...
but its a small peak, like a demo should be ...but it should have been better, i am happy i was one of the first to buy it..

Yes, you're right. It's my terrible english that created the misunderstanding. I've even quoted the readme with the requirements!!! :-D
What I meant to say is that on a pegasos the least (minimum) you expect to be as fast as a real 060 with gfx card or faster (JIT), even if it gets emulated. (or something like that...!? Do I make my self clear ;-) )

cass: yeah i know what u meant but i had to make it clear to all poetential buyers (or them who have ignored this great game for 1+ year) that the specs etc is low.
and that it runs fine on 030 in aga and with paula , sure u need gfx card to get highcolor etc.
and yes it runs swiftly on the pegasos and this game was aimed at pegasos before it was released so its fast there indeed , but its a shame they didnt do a 640x480 REAL job , but still its a great game.
to all, get it now...before its too late..

CF2 on MOS:
Nice, but somehow I have yet to find a working gamepad :-(
CF2 on Amithlon:
Works, but looks a bit weird (scaling didn't work when I tried so the game
ran in one corner of the screen).
CF2 on 060 + Zorro-GFX:
O.k. in the lower levels, but gets a strain on the adavnced ones (too
much action on screen).
CF2 on 030 + AGA:
Well maybe it does work, but I wouldn't want to try it ; :-o

Have you tried the Amithlon Gameport drivers? (They are compatible with the Catweasel (single button) but also works with the "gameport" on the peg with more all buttons...)

kronos:i completed crossfire 2 on 040 * 25 with Vodoo3 , it wasnt a strain, i just turned down lightning and flash to low or never.
and that was in hicolor!
zorro2 boards have always sucked on a1200\s and that u know, and i dobt there is many out there who has that as a games machine theese days , they either still use aga or has a bvision or voodoo3 . or?
as for amitlon and 030 , i dont know but i doubt they are unplayable , it say miniumu for obvious reasons but i dont know for sure since i sold my 030 in 1995 , when i upgraded to 060

desolator: yeah make sure that you get this game , might bethe last real quality game in a long while which is for our beloved amiga or pegasos in a long time to come...
tales of tamar is another good one.
payback , with the currect available version , no it doesnt really run at pegasos, but there is people working on it , but not by apex as apex is waiting for a market to do so if any.
anyway you shouldnt stop wondering about getting theese games as they all will be in your heart for a long time to come , and soon payback will work on your pegasos i guess (with sound maybe :) ) cheers

you should check out the demo or just run and buy this wonderfull game.
demo is on aminet , but as we said earlier the demo doesnt really justify the full ness of the game, ie the demo is bad...and thee game is good... good good ..bad bad....good bad..good bad bad...goood ...oops sorry just thought of Thumbwars :)))

Its much more than a shootemup.
Most shootemups are lame.
This one has class,
and you have to think
about where and what to shoot.
that, and you decide where to go by yourself
instead of in a straight line
as shootemups are famous for.
So why you called it a shootemup
is really beyond me.
Its much more than a lame shootemup...
Btw, in XF1, there was a 'space mode' option
that I always had enabled when I played
that great game with friends.
That 'space mode' option/feature
is the only thing I really miss on the sequel.
Cause its just illogical that a spaceship
slows down when not using its engines -in space-.
it would be ok on the surface levels,
but it would add alot of playability
(and atmosphere)
if they let the ships drift more
in the space missions.
Ive currently completed the game
and overall... TOP NOTCH!!!
If you dont feel much for action,
then dont get it.
The tank level
could have been taken out of XF2
and started its own entire game!
THAT is how cool that was!
I seriously advice the developers
to make a more strategy focused game
in wich you can choose
the ship you want to control
at any given time,
or something like that.

imbe: because it is an shootemup , but yes u are so correct , its not a vertical shooter or horizontal , its like them old multidirectional ones and with strategy elements thrown in.
the forumla is exellent and performs very nicely.
and yes the TANK level could have been a diffrent game, its so sad there was only 1 level of that;(
but hey the game roxx and its catagorized as a shoot em up , but take note that its more than JUST that!
have a nice Xmas or whatever with this wonderfull AMIGA/pegaS.O.S ONLY game.

I *think* my CrossFire2 arrived today. At least I got a card through my door saying I have a parcel waiting for me to collect... I'll go find out tomorrow and let you all know :-)

Ive considered buying another copy
incase my current one is damaged,
and I lose the full hd install somehow.
Btw, there was no manual in my dvd cover...
is there supposed to be?

i just got the ps2 controller to work with the game , the sega md/sms hack which can be used on amiga (not psx-port) , got it working with 2 buttons in crossfire (no more is needed) so i am at it again now and gonna complete this wonderfull game again :D

Just a quick note to say I have just this minute finished CrossFire2, and the game rocks :-) I've got a mate (cyka) sitting next to me playing it on my 040/28 AGA machine atm too.... The last level was hard but once I cracked it, it all became a walk in the park :-) Now people... go out and buy it, what are you all waiting for, you wont regret it (unless your shallow)

Ive completed it over again now,
and it was more fun than the first time!
The various weapons are very
awesomely designed and drawn.
This game should really be developed further.
Atleast added more tank missions! ;)
