Peltier cooler

Description: Heres a peltier cooler, which acts in a similar way to a heat pump, except with no moving parts. Just put 12v at 2A across the element, one side will cool down so much that water starts condensing on it, and the heatsink starts warming up. Great if you want to avoid having too many fans on your system, but the 2A current draw might be a bit too much for standard "brick" Amiga PSU's.

awesome idea !  I guess this is more for the ppc cards as they could use the extra cooling...a passive heatsink on my 030@50 with a fan case has served me well for years

24W to maintain the temperature differential sounds quite a lot, really. You could probably do better with a fan, at least as far as power consumption goes.

rkauer: Might be worth trying http://www.greenweld.co.uk/acatalog/Shop_Peltier_76.html

I actually got the above unit from a radio rally.

PS. These things drag quite a few amps to operate. They can also generate power from a temperature difference

Interesting thing.

Where do I find some of those Peltier heatsinks?

Years ago i was so exited about this technology, but the truth is there is no perfect cooler with this technology. The death of this cooler was the price anyway. you can do the same effect which much cheeper cooler. (and noise ratio is the same)
