That to me indicates that the down payments for venue, catering, and all other horribly expensive things have been nailed down.

No, they have not been nailed down.  It depends on the Kickstarter.

With 14 days to go on the Kickstarter, about 63% of the $20,000 goal has been pledged.  Read the latest update at

...I have a limited budget on which to travel and could use either some advice as to reasonable hotel accommodations or another attendee with whom I could bunk.

Do what I do.  To find a hotel in the area, go to

http://www.hotels.com

Input "Mountain View, CA" and the date(s) that you will need a room.  Click on SEARCH.  You will be presented with a list of hotels.  Along the left side of the screen, there is a sidebar.  Click on Landmarks, and a list will drop down.  Check off "Computer History Museum."  The list of hotels will then refresh, this time with all the hotels from the nearest to the farthest in distance from the Computer History Museum.

You don't have to book through Hotels.com; you can use another travel site, like Trivago.com or Booking.com, but the list of hotels will give you an idea of what there is.

News from Tekmage in the latest Kickstarter update -- "The big news I’m happy to share is that we will have a two day exhibit hall. You will recall that the kickstarter had a stretch goal to to expand the banquet to include a two day hall. We missed that goal during the kickstarter but a sponsor stepped up so we can expand the event."

Even if it costs me more, I would rather have the option of buying a ticket.

"We are also going to be releasing more tickets for sale. These tickets will come in the form of a $100 for the banquet, $40 for two days of exhibit hall, $20 for one day, and $60 for a family pass."

What?!?!  Kiki was there, and I missed her?!  That's what I get for being behind the videocamera all day.
