Glad you met the mark - now where can a guy with money in hand buy a ticket?

To get a ticket, just choose one of the Kickstarter levels that includes a ticket as the reward and donate to the Kickstarter project.  Simple.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Not to start a flamewar here or anything, but those only say "One ticket to stretch goal Exhibition Hall".  No mention about how anyone who, for whatever reason, doesn't want to back it on Kickstarter but would still like to attend, can get a ticket.  So I can see where it could be confusing.  Are tickets going to be sold at the door?  Now that they have sufficient funding to actually have the event, will additional tickets be sold through any other means?  Buy 'em through a website?  That sort of thing I think that's what he's asking.

Disclaimer: I backed it through the Kickstarter and think everyone else should, too.  But I know some people don't want to use that site, for whatever reason.  :p

Guess I won't bother if tickets cannot be bought outright.  Real shame, looks to be a good event.

There's plenty of people that dislike Kickstarter for a number of valid reasons, and I'm one of them.  I couldn't care less about stretch goals, t-shirts, stickers, shout outs, funny hats, secret handshakes or any other Kickstarter gibberish.  I have no need for t shirts or stickers, they would literally end up in the trashbin.

I just want to buy a ticket, lol.  I don't understand why things must be so complex.

It's the final day for the kickstarter.  We are sitting at 104% funded with 164 backers.

First, we made it!  Commodore died in 1994, Escom, Gateway, and Amiga Inc have all run with the torch and fell.  Yet, we, the Amiga Community, are still going.  I recently came across a great article that pointed out that John C. Dvorak liked to say that "Amiga users were actively delusional."  Here we are in 2015 successfully community funding the 30th anniversary.  We are a global community of committed compassionate users who feel strongly about how they compute.  Thank you all, to all our backers, to the more than 3000 people who watched the video, to everyone who uses the Amiga still, to everyone who remembers when computing was fun, and to everyone who is wishing us well.

Second, we have received comments about the size of the stretch goals.  With any kickstarter campaign setting the funding targets and stretch goals is one of the hardest parts.  You can't know how successful the campaign will be till it's launched so you have to go with what you think will work.  One thing about the Amiga is there are always surprises.  Our two stretch goals of Internet streaming and a 2 day exhibit hall will not end with the kickstarter.  If someone backs the campaign at the $60 level we will honor the 2 day event ticket.

Third, every dollar counts.  We have so many crazy ideas on how to make this the best birthday a computer ever had but it takes money to make it happen.  The more money we make here the better the event will be.

Last, this might be your only opportunity to show your friends a youtube video of Amiga 1000 serial #1 thanking you for backing the kickstarter.  This is not a promise that such thing will happen... but it could.

Thank you,

Bill "tekmage" Borsari

Congrats on achieving funding.

The million dollar question: Will Bill McEwen and Fleecy Moss going to make a surprise cameo appearance peddling Amiga labeled TVs?

I have agree. This my main gripe with kickstarter for this type of event. Even if it costs me more, I would rather have the option of buying a ticket.
So, as far as I'm concerned, this is another mark against Kickstarted.

News from Tekmage in the latest Kickstarter update -- "The big news I’m happy to share is that we will have a two day exhibit hall. You will recall that the kickstarter had a stretch goal to to expand the banquet to include a two day hall. We missed that goal during the kickstarter but a sponsor stepped up so we can expand the event."

"We are also going to be releasing more tickets for sale. These tickets will come in the form of a $100 for the banquet, $40 for two days of exhibit hall, $20 for one day, and $60 for a family pass."

You do realize that it's because of the Kickstarter that we're even having this event, right?  Otherwise they wouldn't have been able to fund it to even start prepping for the event.  Imagine, for them, the alternative: they manage to find some benefactor to front the $20,000 for the event with the idea that they'll "make it up in ticket sales".  But because nobody has joined the Kickstarter, there's no financial incentive for them to go (in other words, because I helped on the Kickstarter I'm more inclined to go now, but either way they've got my money to help put on the event).  One thing leads to another, they don't sell even close to enough tickets to recoup their $20,000, and some poor sap is now broke and/or never going to fund another event again.

IMHO Kickstarter is the only way to go for things like this.

I'll put it another way: have you ever been in a band that had to sell tickets yourself in order to get paid for playing a show?  Say you're driving everywhere, promoting the heck out of your event, but only manage to sell seven tickets.  Everyone else says "Oh, I'll be there, I'll buy one at the door".  But then the day of the show comes and they're too busy shampooing their cat, or they oversleep, or they're watching something on TV, and can't be bothered to show up to their friend's gig.  Ipso facto, band doesn't get paid, no beer money, and they're not likely to have any more gigs any time soon.

Money up front or no gig. That's the way the world works, kapeesh?  :)

I guess one other way to do it would be to say "we need to sell at least 100 tickets by 1 month in advance or else we can't afford to put on the gig", but then that looses all the flair and co-marketing Kickstarter provides.  People can get excited about a Kickstarter.  They don't get excited about "Oh, I bought a ticket to this thing but not enough other people did so it got cancelled, transaction refunded on my credit card, end of story."  See?  Not as fun.  :P

I think you used very bad example. If the band has no confidence to sell tickets it probably should quit playing.

You're oversimplifying a complex ecosystem.
