Post by: duesi on November 05, 2002, 02:35:10 PM
Where can I get a Realtime-Clock for the Clockport
in a A1200 (Only Clockchip and Battery) without Memory or CPU Upgrade ?

The real Prob is that my clock in my A4000 is dead
i tried to repair it (Battery and Chip changed but it still dosen't work... So i have an X-Surf with Clockport on it (I can't stand to always set the time after every Power on)

If you use Miami/genesis there is an option to get the time from an internet address, check out this list of NTP servers (http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~mills/ntp/servers.html)

I think some A2000 scsi controller cards included a RealTime Clock, you may search one... but by the moment using a NTP server may be a good idea :-)

As bizzarre as it sounds, I don't believe you can actually use the clockport on the X-Surf for a CLOCK, can you?  How would the Amiga know which clock circutry to look at?  It wouldn't harm anything, but without a little change to your kickstart (or SetClockLoad?), I doubt the Amiga would find it.

Anybody know this for sure?
