Tester for Aros 68k distribution wanted
« on: January 31, 2012, 09:32:01 AM »
Hello,

I am working for several weeks on a Aros 68k distribution with preinstalled software and components. Some screenshots here:

I use WinUAE for it. I need testers who help me to optimize it. When you are interested send me a email. I will offer download links (about 500 MB) or burn it on CD and send it (then I need the money before.

My email: olaf . schoenweiss at innovatronic . de

Got AmigaForever 2012 Plus licence recently and tried AROS 68k from it, but that was just very basic AROS with almost no apps. Can`t help with AROS 68k speed up, but wish you very well with it and hope this feature rich and optiimized set of yours will make it to AmigaForever 2013, Classics that can run it and Natami.

I'm going to wake this thread up one more time.  Correct me if there is a newer one.

I started testing it today on WinUAE first before I put it on real hardware.

RTG with JIT fastest emulation looks pretty good, but with 020 14MHz it's amazingly slow.

I decided to try the Windows hosted (no suitable linux install handy) and ran CodeAnalyst on that to see if I could pick up the hotspots, but I'm not seeing anything at all wrong there other than an eventual lockup.

I'm not sure if there is something slow in the iso that isn't on the minimal hosted or if the computer is just way too fast to show it.

It's also possible that the slowness is 68k specific, either an Amiga specific driver or something in the 68k compiler.

I'll probably set up the slowest PC I have with linux hosted and see if profiling shows anything there.
