patch for Icaros Desktop 1.4.5 enables NTFS and more
« on: July 27, 2012, 04:32:36 PM »
Patch 01 for Icaros Desktop 1.4.5 has been released. This little update does the following:

- adds support to NTFS partitions (read only, may be slow with crowded drawers)
- fixes audio hi-fi modes for ESS1375/SB128 cards (and VMware)
- updates cmi8738 audio driver too
- fixes Amiga 1200 configuration file for AmiBridge (setting AGA instead of ECS)
- fixes configuration selection for new ADFs in AmiBridge (A1200 and A500+ now correctly handled)
- updates kernel and library files to July 26th, 2012 nightly build
- updates GMA driver (now handles screens of different resolutions on selected chipsets)
- adds hdaudio driver modified by Joni Valtanen to support IDT 92HD75B codec (Compaq Mini 700)

It's been reported that installing the new NTFS handler may cause trouble with some locale settings, including Russian and Polish.

@Paolo

Have you tested the HiFi mode under VMWare, because it still didn't work when Nic and I tested it? It's working on my real card though.

It's working fine here. I've switched from non-hifi to hi-fi modes without any issue.

Is Icaros limited to 2TB NTFS partitions as Windoze XP SP3 is?

Or can Icaros do 3TB NTFS partitions also?

It's working fine here. I've switched from non-hifi to hi-fi modes without any issue.

More precisely. If I delete ahi.prefs file (initial condition of Live DVD), sound is working but not configured, so it is N times faster than it should be. Defaulting it to 48000 Hz should fix the issue.

The situation before your fix was absolutely worser. Hi-Fi modes just produced crippled sound and white noises, while normal modes worked good.

Now hi-fi modes generate good sound, but faster as it should be. Once configured to 48000 sampling speed, it gets right.
