Hi everyone.
I am a long time Amiga fan. I got my first Amiga... an A1000 back when I was in high school around 1986 there abouts. In 1990 I bought an A2000 and in 1991 I upgraded it with an 030 - 30Mhz card and 2Mb of ram. I believe the card was G-Force if memory serves. I ran a BBS on that machine for 5 years with a single line and a 14.4k modem. I also had an old A500 at one point for a while too. One day just before I was going to move, the A2000 running the BBS crashed and I couldn't get it running again. I packed it up and never pulled it out again after until about a year ago.
When I started it up (I forgot how loud it was) it just hung. I powered it off and restarted it several times and finally it came up! Yea! Unfortunately, it seems that there is a problem with the hard drive. Every time I access a certain part of it the machine locks up and the drive light stays on. I tried running some HD diagnostic tools against it but they too lock up.
So back in the basement went my old A2000 to collect dust. During the move, I seemed to have misplaced all of my old Amiga floppies so I don't have the original Workbench disks to re-install although I do have a couple of spare SCSI drives kicking around that I could salvage the system with.
On occasion when I get the desire to use an "Amiga", I resort to WinAUE which seems to run great under WinXP and is much faster than my old A2000 with it's 030 card ever was.
Anyways... I'm glad I stumbled across this site and took the time to read a few posts. It has really brought back memories and re-awakened my interest in my old friend.
