Description: I recently picked up this card from ebay. It looks similar to a Alphdata Alpharam RA2-8MB (as per Big blue book of Amiga HW) but with the following differences :- 1. Only 15 of the 16 Zip sockets are fitted the last one has no evidence of soldering etc although the tracking is complete. 2. There are two jumpers for selecting 2,4,6 or 8MB and another jumper marked "on/run off/test". The only marking is on the chip side and reads "PC0012D". I was hoping to fit this into an unexpanded A400D (16+2Mb)after getting hold of some zip ram. Is anyone familiar with this card or zip ram in the Amiga. | rkauer Posts:3263 | January 14, 2009, 02:18:23 AM Good luck finding the memory for this piece of RAM expansion. Nathan (Ultrareliable on Amibay) have those zip chips, if you want 'em, anyway. As a warning, even from the cheapest possible source, those memory chips are too expensive. And your A4000 (not 400!) will crawl with Zorro-2 memory expansions! |

Design looks similar like RAM on Oktagon/BSC/alfadata scsi (ior ide) controllers. and it will map itself to Zorro 2 memory space probably. Jumpers are also identical: Test+off - this jumper will not map memory for system, but in this state you can test it with supplied utility. On-run - is clearly for enabling memory for system. On oktagon cards are actually two jumpers for this, one is on/off ram, and second is test/normal state. Other jumpers are for setting how much ram is fitted. Nice card, good luck to find some zip chips for it |
