Amiga 1000 audio jack problems
« on: May 22, 2021, 12:40:36 AM »
It all started when I moved (yanked) the unit without knowing the jacks had cables still plugged in. Lost sound in one. Eventually (past year or two) I took it upon myself to remove both jacks and attach new. Nothing until I attached wire that I show in photo mockup. Now I have one with audio the other nothing.

These are not photos of my board just using to show the problem.
Any ideas for a basic novice with a modicum of soldering skills to try or bite the bullet and pay someone. I would really like to learn though.

One rather dangerous way to look is to set some music going and try the phono bin on likely looking connections. Whem you hear the music through the channel, you know the connection..

Best practise is to use an oscilloscope to check which pinv have a wobbly analogue music wave on them.

What's almost certainly happened is board traces have been damaged from the connector being dragged around.
