I am using it a few days already. Runs nice & smooth so far even though it's a beta. And finally my broadband USB stick works without much fiddling.

Yes, boot speed has reached Amiga level. :-)  Overall speed is impressive aswell. Windows crawls in comparison...

A3040/25 AmigaOS 3.9
A1260BPPC AmigaOS 3.9/4.0
Sam440ep AmigaOS 4.1.2
PegasosII/G3 AmigaOS 4.1.2/MorphOS 2.7/Debian 5.0.7/SUSE 11.1

If i am going to have bugs on my system,

Not really. Lots of stuff has changed under the hood.

Plus, it's an LTS version.

Yeah, I only bother with LTS versions. When the release becomes stable, I'll probably upgrade.

I never cared about bootup speed because I never turn my linux computer off, it almost never needs a reboot. My uptime monitor is reading 4 months right now, and thats only because of a power failure 4 months ago.

Still I'm glad to see someone addressed what many consider a problem.

This distro is making great progress into the desktop area, its probably the most popular distro now. I stick to vectorlinux because I grew up with it, but even I am considering switching because their repository of installable programs is ridiculous. If I switch, I will probably never have to compile or
fudge around to get anything I want installed and usable nearly instantly.

One thing I would say though is that its UGLY stock, Orange and brown yeech... I know, I know, you can customize it with thousands of themes, but that first impression is yeeech.

ah what the hell. Just updated and I must say, from a cursory glance, it looks really slick.

Looks like they are really taking on OSX in terms of being user friendly, and a lot of focus on social networking stuff and "everyman" computing

Well, you might say the same about blue and orange, but I digress. It takes all of 2 seconds to change the appearance of gnome :)

And yet STILL looks amateurish!

KDE 3 and Mandriva Linux and its fork PCLinuxOS looked great, and then they all switched to that monstrosity known as KDE 4 * sigh*

That's a matter of opinion. I actually quite like gnome. You can reconfigure gnome's appearance a lot more than the standard GUI interface options allow for, provided you don't mind editing the config files directly.

Totally agree about KDE4 though. It's just so damned awful I'm lost for words. 3.5 was quite nice.
