The PC version of Wolfenstein 3D have some factual errors, which were not fixed. That's why I prefer to play the Apple IIGS version which is much more polished. You can read The Long Strange Saga of Wolfenstein 3D On The Apple IIGS where they outline the improvements they implemented into the Apple port.

In fact I don't bother with the PC versions and don't have any of them installed, when I have the Apple IIGS version.
