Hi Crumpster,

Best of luck with that. I hope you have more success than I did with assembler.

68000 coding has always fascinated me ever since I read Dave Jones' (of Menace and Lemmings fame) games programming tutorial in Amiga Format many moons ago.

I have two books on assembly programming: Amiga Machine Language from Abacus (quite old that one), and Total Amiga from BSB books, written by Paul Overaa who contributed to many Amiga magazines.

Overaa's book was mystifying, to say the least. I get the impression that Paul has a brain the size of a planet (he initially qualified as an analytical chemist), but finds it hard to impart his knowledge. This doesn't really help if you're a novice. Although the book claims to be a guide for the complete beginner, it gets very heavy very quickly.

68000 coding is undeniably fun and extremely rewarding. There's something so raw and pure about manipulating the Amiga at such a low level. But it's heady stuff!! Don't try and run before you can walk is what I'd recommend.

Have fun!
