MorphOS 2.7 actually supports eMac G4 1.42 GHz
« on: February 10, 2011, 10:30:52 AM »
User Ruud provided evidence that MorphOS 2.7 actually runs on the Apple eMac G4 1.42 GHz. Until yet only the 1.25 GHz version was confirmed to run MorphOS. The 1.42 GHz version doesn't supprt 3D yet (ATI 9600). Once 3D drivers for the 9600 will be there it will be pretty nice: not only isn't the 9600 too shabby, but the eMac 1.42 comes with 64 MB VRAM.
All in all it is good to know, since eMacs often can get picked up for real pocket money.

I just couldn't bring myself to get anything with a CRT in it these days.  I*hate them so much.  Big, heavy, finicky things.  That said, I remember keeping my last CRT going for a whole nother year with periodic well-placed punches to the top of the case.  That trick wouldn't work on an LCD.

Well, dismount the device and put a tft to the vga connector. Or if crafting and tinkering isn't yours get a PowerMac or Mac mini. Still CRTs are good for video. But personally I also prefer a *good* tft (one with IPS or PVA panel) over a CRT.
