User Ruud provided evidence that MorphOS 2.7 actually runs on the Apple eMac G4 1.42 GHz. Until yet only the 1.25 GHz version was confirmed to run MorphOS. The 1.42 GHz version doesn't supprt 3D yet (ATI 9600). Once 3D drivers for the 9600 will be there it will be pretty nice: not only isn't the 9600 too shabby, but the eMac 1.42 comes with 64 MB VRAM.
All in all it is good to know, since eMacs often can get picked up for real pocket money.

That is awesome! I really would like to see the iBook G4 supported. It is a nice little laptop. Any plans from MorphOS Team to support any PPC Apple laptops?

We demoed MorphOS running on Apple PPC laptops many times already. We're not looking into iBooks though, but for now just the last two revisions of PowerBooks.

åfan takemehomegrandmah är du svenne?
"WTF takemehomegrandmah" are you a swenny?

@ Amigamia
I'm hypnotized by your bouncing avatar:crazy:

Nice confirmation of something a lot of us suspected.
The only negative is the desktop space taken up by these systems and the possibility of the CRT failing on these relatively old computers.

Tummen upp! Visste du inte det?

MorphOS is OK.

Its relatively easy to make a kind of macmini with the emac and use another monitor.

MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

I'll take OS3.9, thanks.

MorphOS is OK, it's the users that are the problem!

MorphOS is Amiga done, right?

Has anyone confirmed support for the 'education only' USB2.0 1GHz model?
It's the same as the 1.25GHz and 1.42GHz machines, just with a slower CPU and different BTO options.

I just couldn't bring myself to get anything with a CRT in it these days. I*hate them so much. Big, heavy, finicky things. That said, I remember keeping my last CRT going for a whole nother year with periodic well-placed punches to the top of the case. That trick wouldn't work on an LCD.

Well, dismount the device and put a tft to the vga connector. Or if crafting and tinkering isn't yours get a PowerMac or Mac mini. Still CRTs are good for video. But personally I also prefer a *good* tft (one with IPS or PVA panel) over a CRT.

kedawa : unfortunatly, MorphOS doesn't work on the 1GHz/USB version of the eMac.
-
That's strange. They're exactly the same machine except for the clock speed.

I has not been confirmed, but I believe it's going to work - the hardware is the same as the 1.25GHz model indeed and the model id is PowerMac6,4 so there's nothing preventing MorphOS from running on the machine. If you can get access to one, please give it a try and let us all know.

The 1.0GHz PowerMac4,4 != 1.0GHz educational PowerMac6,4. The first one won't work, the latter should work just fine.
