I want to use his likeness on an Amiga nostalgia product I'm working on.

Which product? ;)

Is it Mil. Spec. :afro:

No idea, but here he is:

Anyone else notice how high his points are for 12 posts?

Thank you for the replies and rest assured, the item will be Mil-Spec.
Will report back with more details soon.

Heavy Duty Mil Spec Crap Filter (tm) recommended.

I take it you must have a damn good reason to contact him? Just out of interest...
I see the "Mil-Spec" quote has not quite rubbed off from his name yet even after, what, nearly 7 years or so? :roflmao:

One does not simply contact the Doomster, the Doomster contacts you.

I didn't know you could buy such an item. Still, I guess it's obvious where the power cord goes...

An A500 power supply. You plug it in, it either works or it doesn't.

It's a joke. A "bum" power supply and the cable fits into the rusty starfish.
Think Red Dwarf and Kryten with his groinal socket doing the vacuum cleaning and you get the type of humour involved here. :D

That`s actually true!! I remember when I first joined here I asked what all the fuss was about, people were writing things on the forums about him, and I ended up getting a personal explanation from the man himself - somehow!!
Just say his name three times into your laptop screen!!

I mostly lurk here but even after all these years the first words that popped into my head when I saw his name was military spec.....

I've been wondering, is that really Doomie or not in that "Only Amiga" video?
If not the recreation of Doomie's workstation is very meticulous. Looks historically accurate.
Anyone else notice what sounds like a slight bit of auto-tune on the voice?

I try not to think about it. Pretty scary stuff.

Wow... this shows exactly how out of touch with reality he is. Creating a video like this takes a certain level of arrogance and vanity. I see a real disconnect with reality in this man... much like serial killers, or sociopaths. Actually if you think of Doomy's behavior patterns they fit the profile of a sociopath.
There's no telling what the Doomaster is capable of ... that is if he doesn't electrocute himself first while destroying some hapless victims Amiga durning one of his infamous $50 repair attempts.
-
Doomie is a legendary figure!
I would be honored to have bought a bunk power supply from him. But I would have had the forethought to have him sign it first and then later sold it for quadruple, more if it was military spec.
I've sold 3 (then working) VCRs in the last month and two of them went bad for customers. Rough shipping?, bad timing?, not sure. Not trying to make light of any bad experiences any of you may have had. But sometimes a bad product is just bad luck or bad shipping. Admittedly I'm no expert on Doomie's selling and I won't comment on the appropriateness of refunds or replacements. I gave full refunds…and won't be sourcing any more VCRs.
Someone needs to sell Amiga parts, even if they are near the end of their useful lifespan.
…No contact yet though.
I will keep you all briefed, or de-briefed as the case may be*.
*Depending on factors including, but not limited to; gender, marital status and platform preference. ;)

Easy: show your email address at your profile. I'm sure the troll will contact you very soon.
If it don't work, tell someone else the truth about him: overcharged repairs that don't work, money transfers clearing before even dispatch of "MIL-SPEC" goods, misleading descriptions of Amiga gear on Ebay... Name it.
Imbecile try his chance on me once.
BTW: he (it?) lives in Beaverton, Oregon.
-
Well, now, I find it hard to believe the man in that video -singing about his love- is also a terrible eBay seller. Rude, crass, stupid...that is just hard to imagine...

LOL! He needs to have is face sawed off on payperview, then donate the proceeds to every Amiga Project bounty out there. Then, only then will the DOOMASTER find Redemption!

Anyone here have a story about being satisfied with a purchase from Doomie?

Swing, and a miss...
Isn't it amazing how much the "DoomMaster" topics stur up page after page? Even to this day.

Maybe he is hanging out with Jim Drew?

Doomy and I went rounds not *that* long ago. Maybe a year and a half to two years ago. It was a dark and stormy ePay transaction and he had several Amiga goodies I "needed". Knowing full well who he was, I proceeded with caution and conservatism in only buying one thing: an internal SCSI NEC CD-ROM drive for my A2500. I'm satisfied with the drive now, but after immediately paying, I patiently waited for it to arrive. A couple of weeks went by and no drive. Wrote a few times before finally getting an answer. I thought I had been scammed (we're talking a $20-$30 transaction here), but the guy WAS loopy, lied and was just plain "weird" dealing with. Don't remember exactly what he said, but it was neither nice, flattering or apologetic. Took another week or so before I finally got my drive. The guy plainly has issues and is someone to avoid when dealing.

I have. Wanting to get back into the Amiga and I saw a craigslist for an Amiga 500 with 512k expansion and an external floppy for a good price.
I called and we set it up.
I picked it up, and he handed me the battery for the 512K, which he had removed. We talked quite a bit about the "Golden Age" of computers, and had both owned a lot of the same hardware. I enjoyed the retro-conversation and got to see his Amiga 2000/Video Toaster setup and his software collection. He included a WB floppy (original) and a boxed copy of Blockout.
I got it home and it worked. The floppies were giving me a bit of trouble. I let him know and he offered to clean them. But I did that myself. Looks like it was mostly the buttons that recognize a floppy is inserted. After playing with those, the internal works great now. The external still gives me probs, but I haven't taken it apart to clean it better. I've recently acquired an Amiga 1200, so I haven't poked at the 500 in a bit.
It wasn't until after that I got back onto the forums and realized that there were problems and I made the connection.
I'm not going to try to sway people's opinions. I've stayed out of the posts for the most part. Since you asked, I'm responding. I saw one person who was defending him a bit in some other thread (possibly on another board) and people started attacking that person.
So, yes, I had a good experience.

I guess it could well be a better experience dealing with him face-to-face, but the majority of the stories you hear/read seem to involve PayPal and eBay, and usually involve him waiting for several weeks until a chargeback isn't possible before shipping an item. Man, you should've seen his feedback on eBay - I can't remember now but I think it was in the 50-60% range...
-
Thanks for the DoomMaster stories guys!! Very interesting.

I'm sitting here LMAO at this "remix"... rotflmao
BTW: what did you use to extract his voice sooooo cleanly and clearly?!? lol
I f!@#ing hate the way he pronounces 'possible' too. And I never noticed how, at the end of '...makes it happen'... the way he "sings" 'happen', sounds like he's really saying 'heaven'...
-
TotalRecorder is great for that sort of thing on PC. Look up "streamrippers," they probably have them for Mac too (unless Steve Jobs doesn't allow that sort of behavior.)
-
K... so I'm vaguely aware of tools that yank audio off sites, but oohhhh, I see... there wasn't any music originally when he was singing next to his VT system! lmao Was thinking Motorollin extracted just his voice from a tune...
I actually had Doomy's song confused with the one on the OS3.9 disc (now I'm scared!)...
I'm seriously rolling on the floor right now. Thanks for the laughs!
-
That remix is funny as hell. Excellent work!!!

I just used Audio Hijack Pro (http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/) to record my system audio and then played the YouTube video he played.

I can't remember what the original sounded like, but I've got a feeling this effect is something to do with the way I processed the vocal track. I used Recycle (http://www.propellerheads.se/products/recycle/) to slice the vocals up into individual syllables so I could change the temp without changing the pitch or sample rate. I didn't do a very good job, but I couldn't be bothered to do it more precisely - plus he's already mucked the recording up with his ham-fisted attempt to Autotune it.

What does it have to do with Steve Jobs?

Well you *can* do it that way by filtering out all the other frequencies, but it's usually quite messy as there's inevitably overlap between the frequencies in the voice and those in other instruments. That means you either have to leave some of the backing in, or carve out frequencies with the ranges used in the voice, which alters the sound of the vocals. Doomy's original version was vocals only, so I just recorded it.

Actually, that's pretty well produced. Did you use any pitch correction on his voice?

Thanks :)
Did you use any pitch correction on his voice?
No, he did that himself. I don't think he did a particularly good job, but over-pitch-corrected vocals seem to be a feature of that style of music, so it actually works rather well.

I knew I heard a hint of auto-tune in the Doom Master Only Amiga music video. Once again, I too enjoyed the remix!!
No contact yet BTW. Haven't added any contact info here yet, may do so next and see if that helps.
Doomie,
Doomie,
Doomie.
EDIT: I could of course contact him myself with the information kind posters have given me and may do so soon, was hoping he would contact me magically somehow.
