Ideally we'd like to greet each and every new member after they make their first post, but more often than not we don't. Therefore I'd like to take this opportunity to greet all of our new members.
Welcome to Amiga.org! Please take a little time to get familiar with your new home. A few key pointers I'd like to point out are:
* Our posting guidelines (http://amiga.org/modules/sections/index.php?op=viewarticle&artid=6) and Information (http://amiga.org/modules/sections/index.php?op=listarticles&secid=4)
* Our extensive image library (http://amiga.org/gallery/)
*Remember to log in regularly even if you do not post often to check if you have any private messages.
*One of the perks of AO is the email fowarding service, each member automatically has AO-username@amiga.org
email address. Email to this address is fowarded to the email address the used to register.
*Feel free to add a classified (http://amiga.org/forums/classifieds.php) for sale or want add or browse (http://amiga.org/forums/classifieds.php) current adds.
*Non Amiga related subjects are very welcome for forum discussion in the Talk About forum. Posts in this forum are not displayed on the main page.
So grab a coffee or adult beverage, put your feet up and stay a while :-) If you have any questions feel free to PM or email any of our staff. We look foward to assisting you in your stay on the web's premier Amiga comunity website.

As a matter of interest is it possible to deregister from Amiga.org?

NO! You may not deregister untill you've worked your way up in posting rank, or you pay me, or any of the moderators $50. ;-)

What good is the ability to unregister if you are unable to use your computer?
Ok, so a Matrix quote seemed appropriate, but I've yet to think of a better way of putting it.
Nothing to see here, move on people!
-
As far as i know there is no way to de-register from Amiga.org
-
I don't think there's a way for YOU to do it, but a mail to the webmaster asking him to delete your account would do the trick, I should think.
-
@ Bill
I can delete an account ...
@ all
Yes ... you could e-mail the staff .. we can delete your account .. but there is no de-register option for users.
-
@Kees
It might be useful to differentiate admins from moderators, so at least users will know who to approach now regarding admin issues.
-
@ Bill
We are working on that at the moment.
-
While we CAN allow for users to delete their own accounts, this leads to the massive problem of orphaned posts, trolls who sign up, post illegal items, then remove their accounts (leaving us legally liable) and other major problems.
If you want your account deleted, ask an Admin, I'm sure they will be happy to oblige.
-
Hey Wayne nice to see you found time to pop in!
So this is Amiga Org's current member figure is it, I thought someone from Amiga World was bragging. ;-)
-
No, I don't have any intention of deregistering, I just wondered if membership figures quoted on these types of sites could include accounts long abandoned.
It seems they well might.
-
"It seems they well might."
As with *any* Web site, I'm sure that's true. The actual number of used accounts in the last year will always run about 20% of the total, on any site.
-
Why would anybody want to have their account removed, anyway?
Even during the height of the flaming season this place is still the best place to hang out on the web :-)
-
@ Karlos
Even during the height of the flaming season
Is that when the Lesser-Spotted Troll comes out of hibernation? Let me get my binoculars...
-
Maybe the erstwhile David Attenborough (sp?) will do a documentary on the Lesser Spotted Troll
"Here, we see the lesser spotted troll, rising from it's hibernation. Having spent so much time offline, It's first instinct is to hunt for fud..."

Rotflmao!! :-D :-D As long as I get ketchup with it!
@ T_Bone
How it works is: Once you're here, there is a de-registration fee, based on (highest post count) - (your post count) US dollars.
A1!

I'm flexible... I have payment plans available, I'll accept any currency, livestock, computers, etc.
