Hi -

You can sometimes find cases for sale used on EBAY in decent condition.  Or dead Amiga 4000 guts still in a nice non-yellowed case.

I would suggest, however, that you upgrade to a nice El-Box tower case for your A4000.  That gives a buff power supply and plenty of space for future upgrades plus you can add a mediator PCI daughterboard as well really expanding your possibilities.

While the A4000 case is cute an novel looking (especially if it has a video toaster sticker on it) a tower case is really worth the $$.

The more I hear about making classic Amigas more like *IBM* clones, costing mega bucks, makes me suggest you save that cash by just installing Amiga Forever 6 on a PC along with a Catweasel MKIV and you have yourself the meanest full-featured *Amiga* clone at the lowest cost. Take it a step further and install a PC mobo and power supply in an A2000 case with AF6 and Catweasel MKIV, and then you will have the complete *look* of a classic Amiga along with the screaming computing power most pay in blood to achieve.

Does any here in US sells just the empty new A4000 case? I want it to look like when I bought it several years back.

Can UAE achieve 060 speeds just out of interest?

@ samanosuke

Oh, you bet it can. On my crappy old (1998-1999) 366MHz Laptop, I can get ~25FPS in Quake with UAE's 040 emulation and the P96 driver. Any modern computer will be far better than that.

@ riccofl

Try posting an advert on Amibench. Maybe someone who's converted to a tower case is looking to get rid of their original caseworks.

There have not been any new A4000 systems manufactured in the last 10 years. So any case you get will be used from a previous owner/collector. Expect to pay viel Geld or mucho dinero.

-Matt H.: Thanks.

-KD7HTH: Bummer.

What about those 'new stil in box' Amiga 500's, are they for real? So I guess there is no brand new A4000 sitting somewhere in a store.

There are many refurbished A500s in the market since it was one of the best selling Amigas. Commodore went on to refurbish  traded in A500s in the early '90s to resell domestically and overseas. Several people purchased these A500s to use and/or collect making a collection of "new in box" A500s available today.
