WTB EFIKA 5200B and Graphic Card
« on: March 25, 2013, 01:27:54 PM »
Hello!

I am new to Efika and Morph OS and wanting to buy an  EFIKA 5200B.

My question are:

1) Do you know any dealer still having on sale EFIKA 5200B?

2) What kind of Graphic Card would be ok with this motherboard? I have watched thousand of radeon 9250 but actually do not know what of them are OK.. seen with DVI without DVI etc etc... What model do you suggest to me that would be 100% compatible with Efika 500B?

Please let me know,

Thanks in advance...

Daniele

Hello Daniele, to answer;

1)  I see it on Directron site for $99.  They have a case/power supply for $99.

2)   I have the ATI Radeon 9250 (GV-R25128DE) paired up with my Efika 5200B,  and as far as compatibility goes I have not had a problem.

If  interested, I will be selling my Efika 5200B system, which is turn-key   with case, power adapter, efika 5200b board, vga card (ATI Radeon 9250), and MorphOS  (2.7)/with License Key.  Asking $249+shipping.  I will supply photos upon request.  I will be upgrading the version of MorphOS to 3.1 before shipping.

Thanks,
Mike

my suggestion is not to bother. the efika is soo anemic and underpowered. the 128mb ram is REALLY tiny. morphos on efika is NOT FUN. buy a cheaper mac g4 for same price (and get alitvec as a bonus!). efika g2 ppc vs a mac g4 ppc...

I just bought one off Soviet with a Radeon 7000.  Now to save up and buy that X500 case.

My advise though, unless you want to see how low end a machine MorphOS can run on...

I'd hold out for the official G5 support and get one of those. Or if that is out of your price range, get an iMac with 64Mb of vRAM. Avoid the eMachine and anything with only 32Mb of vRAM!

I agree. I sold my entire setup(with license) for the price of a morphos license for a mac mini because efika stinks. The USB is the worst part. I think my subway on my A1200 may be faster and definitely more reliable.
