The confusion of the OP is completely justified. It is hard to imagine that in over a decade nobody wrote a decent filemanager to make AmiWM more useful to Workbench-Fans. If somebody ever did - and it just escaped my attention - please leave a note.

Workbench rulez!

Yeah, but it´s all like writing "Ferrari" on a nameless car. It´s not worth it.

AmiWM is much better than any of these look-alike-mokups! Linux programs are however not designed to work with something like AmiWM, so of course - Gnomes current window-manager will cause less trouble, but it won´t handle .info files, drag screens or even just send a window to the back (which is an essential feature!).
