Are you following the directions taken by CBM for the OS? any performances improvements in the pipe? I guess that since the 89/90 better algorithms exist that can be applied a bit like what you’ve done with intuition but I think also about gfx lib and exec.

I din’t Think it is a good idea to have intuition limitated b/c CGX is not evolving anymore. CGX users should use an old intuition and P96 should move forward. I guess you do not have time to see how CGX work to feed it with what it  expect to make it work. Any pointers so someone else can have a look?

I think it was stated in another thread by Gulliver that Frank will not help.

@Thomas Richter
In the Amiga Devcon 1993 in Denver there’s a topic about writing OS friendly games.

“ Things the OS can't currently do
- Scroll individual scanlines of a ViewPort
- AA color copperlist fades
- Dynamically update user copper lists.

All these are planned to be addressed in future OS releases. One of our goals is to make it possible to perform as many Amiga tricks in normal Intuition screens as is possible. “

So my question is : will this planned features have a chance to be implemented in future versions of the OS?

@Thomas Richter
If you read the 1993 Devcon there is a topic about future directions, not only about AAA but also :
-Amiga User Interface Directions
-Upcoming Amiga User Interface Developments
-RTG
-Retargetabe Graphics Specification

Is it possible to hook a PC instead of an Amiga over serial?

So I guess that 3.2 should be release with an updated SDK.

Is not upgrading an OS a good thing?

Maybe you could make a debug version of the KS that include a Romable Cop that could be triggered using an NMI (using a key or combination of keys) and that trap all exceptions and trigger the monitor during a crash.

Aren’t all Amiga legacy gfx boards compatible with  both system?
If so they just need to replace CGX by P96.
How many CGX users bought 3.1.4? If the number is low then I don’t see a problem here.
Many OS upgrade from CBM broke 3rd party RTG so why change now? If F. Mariak do not care about its customers why should you?. We need to move forward and not create a kludge OS.

 Back in the day a friend of mine got a Domino which was not working under AmigaOS 3.1 might be 3.0. I was tracing the crash under Monam with a prog of mine which basically disabled interrupt to trace the driver it was many long hours but in the end I didn’t really fixed it properly. A freemem call was crashing the driver so what I did was skipping the freemem but then the mouse pointer was not displayed but it didn’t crashed anymore then we had to return the card so I cannot go further.

@Thomas Richter is it planned to add memory protection as done in AmigaOS 4.x?

Other FPGA are not improving the Amiga CPU or the Chipsets’ their aim are more into preservation and so accuracy. Knowing that they should be treated like any other Amigas no?
