If you see clearly on his blog article, you will notice that the socket didn't have all pins (3 rows of pins per side instead of 4) that an 060 requires.
That's why he had to desolder the socket and solder the new CPU on board.

Cosmos is the "Ambassador of Kwan" and his mods/hacks can make a grown man burst into tears lol :D
