AmiWest 2007 update
« on: August 21, 2007, 03:58:32 AM »
Hello,

This is the second information release for AmiWest 2007, the Amiga show in the Western United States.  We're in the capital of California, the world's fifth largest "nation," and presenting the 10th version of AmiWest October 19-21, 2007.  Please go to http://sacc.org/amiwest for the latest information.

YES, WE'RE BACK AND STILL ON TRACK!!

We hate to make announcements that don't come to pass.  So we've been holding back on AmiWest information releases until we're sure.  Now we're sure.

Sure about what?  We're sure that we can present an AmiWest first.  For the first time in ten years, AmiWest will have

                             FREE ADMISSION!

That's right - no admission charge for AmiWest this year!  We've been able to secure the support of sponsors to cover the expenses that ticket sales have covered in years past.  Now, everyone can come and see what's happening at AmiWest free of charge.

So tell your friends and neighbors - all of them! - to get out to AmiWest
this year.  As in years past, significant things are bound to happen - and
you don't want to miss it.

THE BANQUET STILL COSTS MONEY, THOUGH

Unfortunately, none of us have deep enough pockets to fund the entire
banquet for everyone who wants to come.  So be sure to send in your banquet reservations ASAP.  It's sure to fill up fast as well.  The speaker will be announced soon.  See sacc.org/amiwest for the details.

EMAIL YOUR ATTENDANCE, PLEASE!

We are asking that you email your intentions to attend so that we can be prepared for the numbers of people that will likely come.  Just send an email with your intent to come and number of people included to:

chela@calweb.com

theprez@infostations.com

That way we can plan more intelligently.  BTW, the hotel rooms are also
more likely to fill up early.  So reserve now!

===============================================================
SO REMEMBER. . .

AmiWest is back and on track for a great 10th show.  Our venue is ready and we're accepting reservations NOW!  Don't miss out!  Bring all your friends.
It's going to be the best AmiWest yet!  We've always come through with a great show and we're set to continue that tradition.  Here's where and how to make your reservations.  Ask for Jamie at the Clarion if you have hotel questions others can't answer.  Otherwise, here's where to write and who to call.

Clarion Hotel Cal Expo
2600 Auburn Blvd.
Sacramento California 95821

Hotel reservations:
Reservations Phone 1-916-487-7600
(toll-free 1-800-424-6423)
and by snail-mail at the above address.

Tell them you want the AmiWest Show price (w/free breakfast).

FOR OTHER AMIWEST INFORMATION:

Get on our mailing list for the AmiWest 2006 and watch this site.

Information for AmiWest 2007:
Chuck Washburn, AmiWest Operations Manager
7051 Dolan Way Citrus Heights, CA 95621

I am planning to drive to AmiWest from Southern California again this year and would like to have a few Amiga users join me to make it more fun and the drive less boring.  It is about a 7 to 8 hour drive from the Riverside or Los Angeles area taking it easy.  I have a brand new car that seats 5 adults comfortably with room for their luggage in the back.  It even has an onboard computer with touch screen that the passengers can entertain themselves with movies or even AmigaForever during the drive.  There is a slim chance that I will also have the rear seat flip down LCD installed and connected as well.  The technical connections that I am aiming for is to be able to view different sources on each display, or the same source if desired, with the added ability to plug an A600 into the power inverter and composite inputs to the flip down LCD so the rear seat occupants can even play with a Classic Amiga while motoring down the freeway.  If anyone is interested, send me a Pmail.  I will probably only take myself and the first three others to keep it from being cramped eventhough 5 fit fairly comfortably.

Anyone up for a "Road Trip" in October? :-D

@Amikit,

Your stop is not quite along the planned route, sorry.   :lol:

@Acill,

Afghanistan??? I am sorry to hear that.  Be extra careful and return in one piece.  I wish you could make it too, but hopefully a couple of other members will be able to join me.  I think this year's AmiWest is going to be a lot of fun.

     And as usual, I'll be coming up Highway 99 from Visalia (halfway between Fresno and Bakersfield).  Though I won't have any Amiga entertainment in my car, I am thinking about bringing the PET 4032 to AmiWest in order to set it up and let everyone play with it.
