Bleh, no internal optical drive!
-
The AROS video driver nouveau was updated to support onboard graphics chips from nvidia like the ION. There have been other issues though which might cause problems if USB booting and/or network aren't fully supported. The only way to be sure what AROS supports is to try it...
-
Looks like the feet are on the top...
That could replace my whole main rig I think. I like it.
-
At that price I just might try it. If it don't work, then I'll try Haiku, if that don't work...
...well then I'm sure Linux or MicroXP would be happy running on it.
From the way it sounds, the graphics performance of these new NVIDIA chips are exceptional.

Nice...
The concept of this thing is what I have in mind for a modern desktop computer.
USB ports, DVI and HDMI video ports, S/PDIF digital audio out, analog audio in/out, card reader, Ethernet and small footprint especially.
And maybe another model with an optical drive too.
That's it!
Everything the average user and not only may want.
-Want more storage space?
Get an external USB hard disk (or a networked one)
-Want Bluetooth? (if not already there)
Get an USB adapter.
-Want Wi-Fi? (if not already there)
Get an USB adapter.
-Want analog video in?
USB solution.
-Want better audio solution for specific needs?
USB.
A different, nicer/slightly better/fancier design and this would be a possible candidate for a future Amiga computer.
*** I'm not speaking about CPU, drivers and so on: it's just personal speculations on possible future designs regarding interfacing with the external world.
I'm really really sick of towers cases and those big horrible/vulgar PC cases thought for "gaming" purposes.
BY!

I'm tired of towers too. Oh, and you left out the fact that these can be used as foot stools for small people. :)

Why wait? get a boing ball sticker, reskin your favorite linux like MorphOS, and call it Workbench5.1LIVE! then call it the amiga X1000Xowie.
EDIT: At 175 retail from newegg, and the valueadd you create? I bet margins in the 200% range.

My Boing Ball sticker is already on my eMac. ;)

I'll admit I would love an alternative to the traditional tower boxes from hell :)
