Here are some samples of a Socket A type CPU.

Or you can just go to PriceWatch.com and click on the CPU link and view them all.

They range generaly from the AMD Athlon 900 on up.  Plus the Duron's.

AMD Duron 800 for $30 including shipping.

What Asus MB is it... you may want to check to see what CPU's it supports.  You may not be able to use the Duron's or the T-Birds with their 200Mhz FSB's.

Well more than twice as fast as that AMD (I'm guessing K6) 400Mhz proc. you currently have.

BTW: I have used companies listed on pricewatch.com MANY times and have never had any problems with any of them.
