AmigaOS wants you!
« on: April 27, 2011, 04:49:12 AM »
From the Hyperion Entertainment Blog:

Are you are software development professional?
Are you passionate about software development?
Do you want to contribute to AmigaOS by working directly on its source code?
The AmigaOS software development team could use your help.
If you are serious about helping with AmigaOS software development then please contact me today.
I look forward to discussing how you may be able to contribute.
Steven Solie
 AmigaOS Development Team Lead

Anyone who has seen the AmigaOS source code will likely not be able to contribute to AROS or other AmigaOS alternative OS ever again.

I'll pass.

In order to gain access to the source you're undoubtedly required to sign a non-disclosure agreement and a non-compete clause.

That's the way it works in most of the software companies. But if you are good in negotiations, you can shorten the non-complete clause to 3 or 5 years then work on whatever you want.
BTW since MorphOS is not a legal entity, if you work on AmigaOS, working on MorphOS will not be considered as working on competitive clause.

Hehe, nice one. Care to tell that to Ben Hermans while you're at it?

It's evident that AmigaOS project is stagnated and falling behind. The promised basic features are still not available to end users. Users are stuck to flaky USB1, old Workbench, lacking 3D support, and installing various 68k components to get even the basic functionality one might expect (say console with review buffer). Promises of release or the component being in beta testing doesn't quite do it.

I personally don't have any interest at AmigaOS anymore. There's nothing AmigaOS could offer that wouldn't be implemented in a better way elsewhere. The "designers" have taken it to the directions I don't want to follow (adding pointless interfaces, adding pointless alien APIs, breaking both source and binary compatibility, adding "shared objects" that are not shared etc).

AmigaOS might want me, but I don't want AmigaOS.

Hehe, I was just going to type that AmigaOS wants You and you know it. This is the only chance for Amiga union. You still can work secretly on MorphOS signing as Secret Piru (Spiru) for example.

BTW AmigaOS is available for recently released hardware (Sam 460) and soon on the Natami (if AROS does not evolve to being fully compatible with AmigaOS).

There's a lot of bad things one could say about the performance of various AmigaOS4 developers in internet forums. But they never make public statements about MorphOS or AROS, let alone negative statements.

That's a good thing, you know.

So the problem wasn't the content of the message but the messenger?

In 3 or 5 years there won't be an OS4 to work on.

Yes, exactly.

Do you write 'open letters' each time atheist or helgis claim that MorphOS is illegal?

No.

Then again I don't spread misinformation and lies like mr Haynie did.

I'm curious though: You think everything I post or say I do as a MorphOS Team member?

Good luck to find a developer, who knows Amiga inside out and willing to join to this shipwreck called Hyperion.
