For everyone interested in AROS for Efika, please read the recent post of Michal:

and then download the ISO and try it out :)
Please remember that this is an early alpha software. It may crash and hang - in such case please try getting serial debug - it may help Michal correct problems.

An updated version of ISO is available on Michal's blog, which should solve boot problems for some configurations.

why would you want to run AROS on Efika when MOS is available?
Why would you want to run Linux when SCO Unix is available? Why would you want to run ReactOS when Windows is available? Why would you want to run Gimp when Photoshop is available?
The answer to all of the above is a five letter word that can be represented with one ASCII character.

Well I don't know how Hollywood works with AROS/PPC and Efika, but I could definitely see a use for AROS as a base in info kiosks, with the single use of playing the Hollywood produced media, instead of using a 150 EUR MorphOS for each terminal. Heck, how cool wouldn't it be if you from Hollywood could select to generate standalone code that includes the OS itself? ;-)
(BTW, it's MorphOS, not "MOS" ;-))

I don't want to come across as a troll or anything but why would you want to run AROS on Efika when MOS is available? I just can't see what advantages it would bring.
Same has been asked about running Linux when one could run Windows on a given machine. Some people prefer to run a Open Source OS while others do not want to pay the M$ tax. Then there are some freaks like me that run Linux because not only do I not like Windows and it's price tag, I prefer Open Source whenever possible.
It goes down to offering the retail customer a option of an Amiga-like OS without having to pay for it or be treated as a second class citizen. Genesi makes it's money by hardware sales so offering their product with increased value for the same price is a win for Genesi. Nor do I really see MorphOS to grow with Genesi to fill Genesi's need with their future hardware development. Both AROS and Anubis-OS can achieve solid growth to match Genesi's.

Two answers:
1 - Why not the Efika?
2 - The more platforms AROS supports, the more attractive it is to developers. Trust me, if AROS WASN'T on Efika, people would be asking why it wasn't, and muttering about setting up a bounty on it. :-D

I have recently acquired an efika, and it is a great computer.
Sadly though MorphOS costs 150 EUR to register. And it registers to the efikas network MAC address...
And my bios battery has died so i do not have the original mac address... until i do, i will not be purchasing os license for some time.
But it is definitely a step in the right direction of amiga hardware an operating system.
However.
MorphOS seriously surprised me. It is a very good OS.
Now i just need to get the aros iso down and try it...

It adds to the versatility of the computers. like you said the Efika is not intended to be a desktop computer. and apart from embedded operating systems there is AFAIK only two OSes available to Efika, Linux and MorphOS.
Aros would be a great addition.
a lot of Amiga users have Efika now. and more will come. and it is nice to have the the freedom to choose an OS that you are comfortable with.
